You use the usb cable come with? plug in your pc for power?
Correct. Normally the power comes from the PC via the USB cable.

The E30 was working fine but I took it out of service recently while waiting for the recalled companion L30 to be replaced. My son wanted to try the DAC on his computer but when he plugged it in, via USB power input, he said nothing happened. That's when he plugged up the 15V power adapter and still nothing happened. He got frustrated so I plugged it into my computer and saw the E-d code. I'm assuming the 15V fried it.
I think E30 sounds brighter, D30 is more subtle. I upgraded because of the hype, but not regret, I still have bothMy D30 was replaced by the E30 as I accidentally burned it out by plugging it into a 28V power supply.
The E30 is less sensitive to power supplies than the D30, if it sounds better I don't know.
I believe Amir asked how to get inside one of their small DACs and was told one had to pry the screen off to get inside to take photos of the internals... or I could be mistaken. Did u search you tube for videos on how to get inside?Yes, it was the L30 AC adapter.
So back to the original question: how to open the case. It seems hermitically sealed (kidding.) No joke about how tight it fits together though.

OFF TOPIC, ANYONE HAVE L30 , I ADJUST VOLUME, BEGINING SEEM LIKE STUCKS IS IT NORMAL?
So ...... how does my E30 survive when 15V AC is plugged into it? It was showing E-1 for at least 3 minutes while troubleshooting it.
Lucky? Or the device has built in protection?
Just got the E30 and have an issue I can't see mentioned anywhere else. The E30 arrived with the latest firmware v1.08.
When no signal is detected, the E30 goes into standby mode after about a minute (as expected) but just before it goes into standby there is a loud buzz / hum for a split second. The E30 is connected directly into my power amp. This sound occurs when going into standby even when there are no inputs connected to the DAC (I currently run it with an optical connection). I have tried different power adapters as well as running it in DAC and Preamp modes with no success. Has anyone else experienced this issue and is there a solution?
I want to avoid running the E30 24/7 as a workaround.
I get the same tiny pop when I power on/off the E30 I get when I switch sample rates. If you're sure it's not that then no, the buzz/hum doesn't sound normal.
