Topping D10 Balanced Review (USB DAC)

Very interesting product, nice work Topping.

This uses the same ES9038Q2M chip as the Soncoz LA-QXD1 but why are the specs different? I see Soncoz has 768kHz PCM but D10B has 384KHz.

@JohnYang1997 can you explain? is this related to the DAC chip or the USB chip?

Very impressive stuff. Topping continues to trot out superb components.

Hey thats a new way to present jitter. So whats on the Y scale? ppm? psec?

If this thing had a remote with a volume control function à la E30, it would be 100% perfect. Still one heck of a package.

Make me one of those with multi channel support (or make DACs linkable) and I'd love you forever.
this, this, this, this

give me 4 or even 8 channels please... let me run ADAT out from my RME to 8 channels of 120dB conversion please

Question 2 - the filter used on the old D10S is described by Amir in his review as the ‘correct on’, and this one as being ‘slow’.

Is there a reason to have changed this?

and do it for less than 200......

Now want to see jds labs do the same thing. DAC with just balanced out.

JDS did acknowledge the requests for XLR output in their blog. However, I would think they would add balanced to an existing design. I don't see a reason not to have both unless your target market is professional users.

To keep the cost down? I want to see more competition at this price point for bal dacs.

Size. And size = cost.

Amazing value although destined for use in relatively sparse systems. There is no RCA out for subs and of course only USB in. Thank you @amirm .

I guess. I'd think economies of scale would balance out a bit vs making multiple models. I suppose one could make one PCB and leave part of it unpopulated. I'd pay a bit extra for XLR jacks and single-ended added. I don't currently have system with balanced inputs but I'm planning to.
