I thought it might be of interest to some people to see the implementation of the audio chain for my 2.2 system using macOS.
The main components are a Motu M4 audio interface, which provides four DAC output channels for the speakers and two ADC input channels for the turntable, and a 2018 Mac Mini I found on eBay for $300 running headless.
CamillaDSP is used for crossovers between speaker and sub, and it also is a convenient place to feed the VU Meter from. The VU Meter is a Raspberry Pi with a 7" screen on it.
Basically a DIY NAD M10, not particularly cheaper but a lot more entertaining to piece together.
