Seems to have just been released. Cheap audio Man has got his hands on it

You need to purchase a USB power adapter with an output power of 5.2V 2.4A. The computer's USB port cannot provide enough power. If you connect the PL100 to the computer port, it will not play!

they shoulda put in a USB input.... give the dac something to do besides redbook???

Purchased one yesterday from Amazon UK. Worth a go for £100. Has both coaxial and optical digital outputs as well as RCA outputs using internal DAC. Appropriately rated power supply via usb seems a potential hassle tho .....

You only need to make sure it's rated 2.4A or higher.

I'm interested to see a demo of how the basics function. Eg how easy is it to backtrack/fast forward through tracks? How long does it take to start up? Does it support redbook CD audio properly? Eg CD de-emphasis? Gapless playback? etc

Would love to see @amirm give it the ASR measurements treatment. It would be a game changer if it gets a decent panther.

Ideally would prefer one without a DAC to make it even cheaper, but a larger display for CD Text and other information.

Will let you know about supporting gapless playback or not (I'm thinking sadly probably not?!) as soon as my unit arrives later this week hopefully

If it doesn't play CD audio without gaps then it doesn't support Redbook properly. CDs are gapless by design according to the Redbook standard, but unfortunately many modern DVD players don't play CDs properly. The same goes for pre-emphasis.

Compatibility with pre-emphasis went long ago, before DVD

This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. I had a thread going awhile back about a search for such a transport/player, but all options came up short or were more than I wanted to spend. Hope it measures well and supports gapless playback.

Works fine, quiet mechanically. And very small just as I want it. Some buttons on the remote don't seem to do anything but haven't used it so much.
Wish the display turned itself off completely when the unit is not used.

If there is long term reliability then it's certainly a great purchase

I was about to order one until I noticed it said MQA CD on the back. I'm not buying anything else that supports the MQA scam.

Also, who thought the front panel design was a good idea?

The interest of a CD player if it still has one is to support CD Text and therefore to have a readable display, a headphone jack with volume. That way no need to turn on my Micromega Myzic headphone amp + a remote control with a single battery.
Personally I only use one CD/CDR player, an ancient TEAC VRDS 10. The rest are DVDs (2) and BRs.Low-end LG, Philips or Sony.

Thanks for that. I’ve ordered one. I have been using a Sony BluRay which has been fine but the spin noise was often audible, and there is no track info and no play button on the unit. All minor problems! The Sony will find a home in another system.

MQA went bust. All that symbol tells you now is that it can decode files that were MQA encoded.

So what if it plays MQA. Just don't use it.
I might fix something to make the front look better.. shouldn't be difficult
