Setup to apply EQ from TV(streaming apps) to headphones (possibly active/passive 2.0/2.1 speakers in the future as well)

Hello currently I have a Topping L30II and E30II lite connected to the PC, I use Equalizer APO and the HD650 are phenomenal like this. I have tried gaming using spatial sound from windows and it works flawlessly with Equalizer APO as well. I thought I would be able to watch streaming services and take advantage of my PC to handle all type of media, but alas it seems most streaming platforms make it impossible to use it fully in PC, be it video or audio.

Apparently, people seem to be giving up on the PC as a media station and opting for Android TV, Shield, Firesticks and other streaming sources that will do the job well.
Here is the problem, my LG TV does support the streaming apps, and my DAC would support the TV optical output, however by doing this I would lose the possibility to use my headphones with EQ APO. While not as important in the future, I would also like to watch with a 2.0/2.1 speaker setup (be it active or passive setup) with a similar flexibility if possible.

I am a bit lost on the setup going forward and not sure what I already have could be useful, ideally they would allow PCs to be PCs, there is no reason we can't do 4k HDR and all sorts of spatial audio processing with a modern PC.

My PC does have 2 soundcards, the Realtek one and the topping E30II lite, could I even capture the TV audio with the Realtek and reroute it to APO and then E30II lite?
Do I need to buy a new DAC/DSP just to have a PEQ?

I would like to keep the setup decent enough but still in the cheap side if possible, if anyone could direct me a bit towards the possibilities I would appreciate it.

Technically, yes. Simply do:
TV->Toslink->Hifime UR23->USB->PC->USB->E30II Lite->L30II->Heaphones

Then in the Sound Control Panel, go to the UR23 and enable "Listen to this device".

However, you have to ensure that the UR23 is set to 48kHz sample rate, and it's possible that you'll encounter latency issues.

For a TV Stereo/2.1/Headphone setup that does not rely on your PC for equalization, consider the WiiM Pro/Pro Plus/Amp/Ultra

Thank you, the first setup seems cheaper, but you believe I could have some latency issues on movies, I guess you mean the lipsync would be noticable?

As for the 2nd setup, it seems awesome, but they seem to only support 4 bands for PEQ? I also take it, using WiiM I would not have a need for the E30II lite?

WiiM is currently adding 10-band PEQ to the Pro/Pro Plus/Amp via a firmware update.

The yet-to-be-released Ultra will likely have 10-band PEQ right away.

Correct.

Correct.
Thanks again. Those are good news then:)

Considering the difference in budget I am willing to try the first setup to see if latency is an issue. I can't find much info on similar setups.

@staticV3

By chance do you know if with TV toslink output could you deliver PCM 5.1 to USB and then with Sonic for Windows Headphone or Dolby Headphone enabled in the E30II lite, windows would correctly mix the 5.1 to virtual 5.1 surround for the headphones?

I doubt it. Though I don't have a Surround Sound Toslink to USB converter to test.

So for a stereo setup I think I could try the Hifime UR23, it is not that expansive anyway, but I am curious, is it possible to even extract surround from TV to PC in such a way that the PC can virtualize it for the Headphones, such as Windows Sonic for Headphones?

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a couple of Hifiman Arya Stealth + Topping L50/E50.
Most music will be played from my Oneplus 12 and Macbook M1. I have great EQ-software for both phone and Macbook.

But I am also looking for a way to EQ my old Sony 65" to my Toppings and Hifiman Arya Stealth, when I am watching blue-ray movies, concerts ect.
Is that possible?

It seems that it is not possible to install any EQ-software/apps on my old TV.
USB audio player Pro, as I use for my phone, is not compatible to my old Sony TV :-(

Maybe I can use this solution to EQ my old Sony?
65" Sony (optical) --> Wiim mini/pro (usb)--> Topping E50/L50 --> Hifiman Arya Stealth

Looking forward hearing from you.

65" Sony (optical) --> Wiim mini/pro (usb)--> Topping E50/L50 --> Hifiman Arya Stealth

That would work fine and the WiiM lets you EQ each input individually if you need that feature.

Since Topping E50 is used as DAC in this system, I should go with the mini-version.
Right?

No need to buy the pro, pro+ or ultra.

Wiim mini + pro:
48khZ, 16 bit

Wiim pro plus:
192 kHz, 32 bit

Wiim mini + pro:
48khZ, 16 bit

Wiim pro plus:
192 kHz, 32 bit
That's for the adc. I assume you will be taking toslink/optical from your TV?

I don't think the EQ or room correction feature is available on the WiiM Mini but the Pro has those features and if you're going to use a separate DAC you don't need to upgrade any higher than that with the present firmware and product path.

Yes,

Optical from TV to Wiim. And USB from Wiim to Topping E50/L50
Why are you asking?
Ah, no, mini won't work. Doesn't have toslink in. The pro does.

Neither have usb out. For the pro you would optical in, optical out.

The numbers you quoted are for the analog input, which you're not going to use.

The pro is your most cost effective solution.

I might ask stupidly, but I need to be sure.
Please look at attached.

If I would like the highest possible sampling rate, I just need USB from Wiim to Topping, right?
Or does the whole chain need to be USB? USB from tv to Wiim. And USB to the Topping?

Hopefully it make sense :) :facepalm:

Edit:
The Wiim Pro does not have USB, I can see.

With any other model, you'd have to connect to the E50 via SPDIF.
Good point!

I just need USB from Wiim to Topping, right?

As @staticV3 pointed out you'd have to use SPDIF to go from Wiim output to E50 input. If you really need to go up to 32/768 maybe look at the more expensive models with USB output but you certainly won't hear the difference between that and 24/41....
