ESS has a lot of theories why their dac has that characteristic sound that's attributed to them. And most importantly are resarching for them, which is part of science usually.

That is a terrible talk full of conjecture.

did you guys listen to this DAC? measuements don't give the whole picture . does it sound good? I want a good native dsd dac

All DACs are going to sound the same unless they are doing something very wrong.

If the DAC also has built in amplification, then its ability to drive certain headphones and its noise characteristics (especially with sensitive IEMs) will cause differences in sound quality.
