Just wanted to second this as I had the exact same experience, ground loop solved by one of those three prong to two prong adapters.

Out of necessity I've been using them for decades. Not the best option but I ain't been electrocuted yet.
(At least till they catch up with me in a state I refuse to name.)

they don’t give the power rating for 8 ohms stereo

Pfft. I use this amp to power my pedal and seat shakers in iRacing.
Apparently, my ass cheeks cannot tell the SINAD is less than -80db.
