Revel F208 Tower Speaker Review

Nice. It's a great speaker so you can't go wrong (assume you like the sound).

I've used a F208/C298 combo for almost 2 years now. My Revel F208 + HSU sub + NAD C298 amp combo will blow my ear drums before the speakers. The reason I know that, is that they sound so clean, that I just keep nudging the volume knob, to concert levels. This is in a ~65m3 modest living room, with an openish back wall. No complaints.

BTW, they sound great at normal volumes also. Which I adhere to recently, to save my hearing...

Bought a pair of these on close-out from Crutchfield. Arrived today. Looking forward to setting them up!
(Fair warning: these arrive in BIG, HEAVY boxes! When UPS freight dropped them off, my first thought was, how the hell am I going to get these inside! Luckily just needed to get them to living room on ground floor!)

You should see the Airline cases that the Revel F328Be arrives in at your doorstep. Imagine the hard case with wheels on top of the big boxes included with the F208. :D

They are great !

Yes they are. I got a lot of excellent advice here before I bought mine. The best sound I’ve had in my theater room ever. I’m incredibly happy with them. I see no need to ever think about buying another loudspeaker set. They are that good
Absolutely! I often miss mine. Congratulations.

Why did you sell them?
My listening room was too small to do them justice, and so I went down the Genelec route instead. Had they had DSP (other than the bass reduction switch), I would still be running those with my former pair of Benchmark AHB2's: magical!!

Just following up on my earlier post about kind of power needed to drive the F208s. I finally got mine set up, powering them with my Rotel amp (130W).

Wow, do these respond beautifully! I'm finding 130W is plenty to drive them, and then some. I haven't dared to try them at max volume -- they get scary loud even some distance from max amplification.

Anyway, unless you're someone who has an enormous listening space and likes to listen to your music ear-splittingly loud (...and no judgement!), you don't need a super amp to enjoy these to their fullest.

Hi, would a 13x18 foot room with a 8 foot ceiling height be okay with these or is it on the smaller size? Thanks.

I had them in a room almost exactly that size and they sounded great, better after room treatments. Depending on how far from the wall you're going to pull them into the room and if you need to appease anyone else to "acquire" that much real estate, so a bigger room helps. I drove them with 300 wpc MC7300, but they didn't need it. The Salons did though... lol.

Thank you for the response. I can most likely pull them out a pretty good amount. The boundary control is a pretty nice feature also for those that can't.

is Performa 4 launch still in the works, or is it canceled or something?

AFAIK, it is still in the works. Madrona Digital told me in April 2024 that Revel had confirmed there would be replacements for the Performa 3 series of loudspeakers, but not 'when'. Subsequent to that I recall another ASR member saying there was posting in the AVS forum claiming a dealer said the replacements would be available in the first quarter of 2025.
