Revel F208 Tower Speaker Review

Had a bit of time so I optimized the measurements using the latest techniques for correct bass response. It substantially improved that region. I also made the resolution higher and same as what I have been using (20 points/octave vs 10 that used to be here). This made the graphs a bit rougher. Some of this may be due to my microphone boom that I have since optimized to reduce reflections.

New spin data is included so folks can update their preference scores.
Thank you Amir, quick question to you or any member of the community for that matter: It appears the Directivity Index results have worsened significantly vis-a-vis the ‘new’ results? My understanding is the DI directly indicates the ‘EQ-ability’ of a speaker therefore I am curious what portions of the 20HZ - 20KHz frequency band you suggest to apply EQ to (based on in-room measurements)?

Thanks again,

Just bought new 208s and a C208. Depending on which system I decide to put them, they'll either be powered by an Anthem 525 or NAD M27. Am I good either way?

Can't see how you could go wrong with either setup,
Enjoy some fabulous sounds!

Sure, both are clean with enough power. If the amp won't be highly visible, you can save a lot of money by going Buckeye NC502 amp, which I use to power my F206s, C208, and S16s.

Thank you for the response! The Anthem amp (living room) and NAD are my current amps, so planning to keep them. I'm leaning towards placing the Revels upstairs in the theater with the NADS (208s will actually be powered by a M22, everything else by the M27). Just wasn't sure if there were opinions on power and class a/b vs D

Sure there are opinions, none of them worth much when it comes to modern designs. ;)
If heat radiated into the room or power used is of any concern then the D amps may offer some slight advantages, otherwise it's a toss up.
Enjoy

Nice! I didn't realize C208's were in stock....Crutchfield doesn't have them. Did you work with a dealer?

Hypex NC502 is dead quiet and has monster power for my F206s. IMO, I see little reason to buy anything other than Class D for 99% of use cases.

Never owned one (i.e. Hypex NC502) but I have been looking at one to power my F208s. Glad to see you give the amp a ringing endorsement.

I am going to look into this. I took home a NAD368.with BluOS and I am blown away by how good it sounds. What kind of preamp are you using with your 502? I need one with the home theater pass-through that way the 502 can run my f208 in both situations. Thanks.

I don't run separate systems, everything goes through an Anthem MRX-720 AVR and then the 6-channel NC-502 Buckeye amp. I have a Roon server on a NUC connected via HDMI for music and a Shield serving as my streaming box plus endpoint for my Plex server for movies/TV as sources.

C208 delivered today. I decided to put the Revels upstairs with the NAD amps, and move the ML 60XTi to the living room to replace the Motion 20s once the F208s arrive. Here is a pic below the 77". I know, I need to hide cords. It's work in process.

Cords are a thing of beauty, no need to hide them as long as you didn't waste audiophool money on them. ;)
Enjoy the new rig!

When I've been in studios they do a lot to manage cords and cabling. Yet they always have cables running all over depending on what they need. I'm just trying to recreate the studio so my cables hang out in the open too.

Thank you for being kind lol.
Who me? Naw, I'm just a bullie to hear some tell it.
No problems, enjoy that new rig ! ;)
