Interesting to see photos of this part of the world, which is very far from the place I live. Thank you!

Understandable, the Akai looks very cool and is technically superior. Both sound great but I am going to play with both of them to see which one I am going to keep. (Hint, it's probably the Akai)
If you are going there, I still have one of these (in storage somewhere!):Bought this Akai cassette deck a few weeks ago but thought I got scammed when the seller stopped responding for a couple of weeks. Communication was really sketchy. Reported him to the police and platform I bought it on.
Ended up buying the Yamaha to tide me over but suddenly the seller of the Akai contacted me, sent a screenshot of a shipping notice then deleted his account.
Door has some slight discoloration because someone tried to glue the plastic back on and spilled the glue.

Akai GX-7 - 1983
Yamaha KX-390 - 1996
Great device! I liked it too, even though I didn't have one. I had a Nakamichi 700, for example, which my girlfriend at the time mockingly said looked like a toaster. But it was my pride and joy and I really didn't have that much money at the time.If you are going there, I still have one of these (in storage somewhere!):
Chunky, clunky, tank like construction.

Nice! Late 70's deck probably? Looks like they still go for a pretty penny. If you are going there, I still have one of these (in storage somewhere!):

The Yamaha wouldn't look all that much out of place in a modern system. If not for the titanium grey instead of silver colour. The Yamaha is way sexier looking, though -- probably looks better in 2023 than does the Ms Biarritz pictured above.
I regret to say, but even though the blue LED light is associated with modern times, it is a light color that personally does not appeal to me.
thank god it's not just meI regret to say, but even though the blue LED light is associated with modern times, it is a light color that personally does not appeal to me.
It was really hard to capture the vibe on camera . Really magical - the trail took nearly an hour to walk (with beer stop) and was illuminated throughout with a musical soundtrackI regret to say, but even though the blue LED light is associated with modern times, it is a light color that personally does not appeal to me.
No problem here.Good luck finding many amps that still have Rec-In & Rec-Out.
Ha, thanks for the offer but I have a perfectly capable Yamaha A-S500 here. Just lacking a set of fitting passive speakers to hook up to them at the moment as I opted for a nice pair of active speakers before I dove into this hobby. It's on the wishlist. No problem here.
I'd send you one if you werent in the Netherlands.
Yamaha, bless their hearts, long had extra-flexible taping capabilities. Nakamichi amps and receivers did as well.
They weren't the only ones, of course, but Yamaha in particular is top of mind for me* because they stuck with it for a long time (even after taping had largely fallen out of fashion).

*there's also my small Yamaha fanboy tendency, but that's a different matter entirely,
