Interesting to see photos of this part of the world, which is very far from the place I live. Thank you!
So, another one!

Hôtel du Palais by the sea in Biarritz, France, where Sinatra used to spend 1 month every year in summer.

BIARRITZ is a beautiful town by the Atlantic Ocean... France.
The first building you see on the right is the Casino. The first building by the sea on the left is the Hôtel su Palais where Sinatra
used to go...

Bought this Akai cassette deck a few weeks ago but thought I got scammed when the seller stopped responding for a couple of weeks. Communication was really sketchy. Reported him to the police and platform I bought it on.
Ended up buying the Yamaha to tide me over but suddenly the seller of the Akai contacted me, sent a screenshot of a shipping notice then deleted his account.

Door has some slight discoloration because someone tried to glue the plastic back on and spilled the glue.
Both sound great but I am going to play with both of them to see which one I am going to keep. (Hint, it's probably the Akai)

Akai GX-7 - 1983

Yamaha KX-390 - 1996

Understandable, the Akai looks very cool and is technically superior.

If you are going there, I still have one of these (in storage somewhere!):
Chunky, clunky, tank like construction.

Great device! I liked it too, even though I didn't have one. I had a Nakamichi 700, for example, which my girlfriend at the time mockingly said looked like a toaster. But it was my pride and joy and I really didn't have that much money at the time.

Nice! Late 70's deck probably? Looks like they still go for a pretty penny.

Apparently there was somewhat of an evolution going on in the placement of the cassette in the device over the years. They didn't start as the left-hand, front-loading designs I know and love. I grew up with the black 90's models (dual decks) but I have a soft spot for the late 80's silver face designs.

The Yamaha is way sexier looking, though -- probably looks better in 2023 than does the Ms Biarritz pictured above.
The Yamaha wouldn't look all that much out of place in a modern system. If not for the titanium grey instead of silver colour.
Good luck finding many amps that still have Rec-In & Rec-Out. I don't think Audiolab for example has any amps that offer this anymore.

And I need two of those. One for the Cassette deck, the other for the Reel-to-reel.

I regret to say, but even though the blue LED light is associated with modern times, it is a light color that personally does not appeal to me.
It was really hard to capture the vibe on camera . Really magical - the trail took nearly an hour to walk (with beer stop) and was illuminated throughout with a musical soundtrack :)

No problem here. :)
I'd send you one if you werent in the Netherlands.
Yamaha, bless their hearts, long had extra-flexible taping capabilities. Nakamichi amps and receivers did as well.
They weren't the only ones, of course, but Yamaha in particular is top of mind for me* because they stuck with it for a long time (even after taping had largely fallen out of fashion).

*there's also my small Yamaha fanboy tendency, but that's a different matter entirely,

A portion of the Louvre museum, Paris. where you can see the famous painting of the "Joconde'... - real name of the woman : Lisa Gherardini - which price is estimated between 1 and 2 billions euros. Painter : Leonardo da Vinci during the year 1506.
If you think that the museum looks like a train station, it was a train station...
If you take a look during 10 seconds to all paintings you need 4 days.

Ha, thanks for the offer but I have a perfectly capable Yamaha A-S500 here. Just lacking a set of fitting passive speakers to hook up to them at the moment as I opted for a nice pair of active speakers before I dove into this hobby. It's on the wishlist. ;)

Yamaha is certainly one of the holdouts there. Probably because they have been building the same line of amps for decades, just updating them here and there. Nothing wrong with that, they are generally considered excellent value for money and great sounding because of that. Perks of using a design for that long.
The last with the double tape connectors still being sold new is probably the A-S701. Anything newer, or with a DAC inside, often lacks the option entirely.

Ah well. We'll see how I feel about all this by the time it becomes an issue.

Landing approach in my glider at Zephyrhills last Sunday. Overcast day, a short flight just to do it.

The runway is over a mile long, how can I miss?

Saturday was a much nicer day. Clouds weren't real high, but lift was dependable. The forecast wasn't good, so didn't try to go far. The clouds tebd to rise as the day progresses. I want about a thousand feet of altitude (above a 1000 foot "return to airport" safety altitude) to go four miles out. It's a bit conservative, so 5000 feet gives about a 16 mile range. The airport disappears at that range if it is hazy.

Flying around with another old glider (lower left) just like mine near cloud base..

Ir's Florida, so short pants in December is normal. Wore the long sleeve shirt Saturday because it was sunny. The bubble top can let in a lot of sunchine..

Clouds all disappeared a little while later, couldn't find lift in the blue, low sun angle not heating the ground any more,, and came down. "Winter" flying doesn't lend itself to particlarly long flights here.
