If only Yamaha would retrofit the silver panel and meters in the third picture to my R-N803... but I suppose the digital display would have nowhere to go.

Oh how I love this old school line of amplifiers from Yamaha. I have no room in my current systems to fit these pieces and definitely no room in budget. Seems like they did an overhaul of the actual chassis making these units more robust.

These are multi thousand dollar units... They have lotsa snazzy features inside.

Gotta love some windscreen wipers.

"Gilding Oxygen Free Copper speaker terminals, thick PC-Triple C internal wires, and brass screws for the large block capacitors."

I'll bet you can hear that.

Maybe grab an as701/501/301 before they disappear...

I bet those VU meters kick it up about 3-4 quads per channel. But that's technical talk. Technical talk. I wonder if you can get it with the tk-421 modification?
Oceans reference? Nice.

I don't think they are phasing out those. There was already an A-S1100, A-S2100 and A-3000 with meters in their lineup before. It looks like they are just updating those to A-S1200, A-S2200 and A-S3200.

The cheapest one of the current/old version with meters is $2,400. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_022AS1100S/Yamaha-A-S1100-Silver.html Maybe they'll clear those out at a discount.

A refurbished A-S3000 can be had for $4,500 https://www.accessories4less.com/ma...tural-sound-integrated-amplifier-black/1.html

The VU meters look nice, but isn't it better to take advantage of using a modern display like Anthem does?

I own a A-S3000 so naturally I combed through the specs to see what the differences are between the 3000 and 3200 :D

Besides the new silver feet and 'better' internal copper cables, I noted the 3200 has better signal to noise ratio:

3000:
Phono MC (500 μV, Input Shorted) 85 dB
Phono MM (5 mV, Input Shorted) 93 dB
CD, etc., (200 mV, Input Shorted) 103 dB

3200:
PHONO MC: 90 db
PHONO MM: 96 dB
CD, etc.: 110 dB, BAL1,2: 114 dB

How much difference will this make in the real world?

Looks like a cheap low-end implementation of their classic designs--with the exception of the larger one, which is more balanced--but not as nice as the Lux or Accuphase product.

Notice how the smallish meters are centered on the front panel, but appear offset because of the empty real estate to the left. The entire front looks imbalanced by the large volume knob to the right. They should have made the meters larger, or at least moved them leftward, separating the two with a bit of front panel and possibly a meter control switch like the older CA-1010 which, IMO, represents a more balanced look. In any case, for the money the older gear certainly gave you more features.
