Will definetly start without subs bcs of the cost. I have to also hire an acoustic specialist first that will help me with the living room.

Yeap, no sense in this pricing.

The white 8350A is going to be a bit more expensive bcs of the color, but worth it to me.
Maybe they want to make them attractive to hifi shops. So there is a higher retail margin baked into the price?
I presume most people don’t go to a pro audio shop to buy home speakers. I know I didn’t until recently. Thanks ASR for 8030c SMSl su-9n and parks puffin pre- purchase info

Whatever it is, that price is just ridiculous. Painting 8340, putting them on a stand and slapping a very very high margin.
I know they are a business and have to make profits, but this is just money grab from people who don't know audio.
If I were to buy these and later found out about their Pro line, I'd be very pissed.

Genelec 8350A is 1800 EUR/ea from thomann.de (Free shipping and VAT included).

So this is 58% more expensive.

Doesn’t the new Genelec come with a high quality stand? Still more expensive, though.

This is not just slapping on new paint as they have made new moulds for the cabinet as can be seen here:

Just got information from a Genelec partner in Germany: the price is 2.842,86 Euro + VAT per speaker.

I guess it's white 8350A + stands for me.
Wow! That pricing makes no sense to me. It would make sense if it were a tower speaker, but it’s just a 8350 with a built in(1,800 Euro) stand.

Actually, it’s worse than the 8350. It has both the disadvantages of a tower speaker (can’t place it on a stand/desk/bookshelf) and none of the advantages (bass extension, output, smoother bass). The worst of both types(bookshelf and tower) :(.

Would love to see what Genelec could do with the design freedom of a tower speaker. Perhaps in the future .

The stand is "only" about € 1000,-

It does have a closed enclosure, so possibly more extension due to larger volume, but will have limited output power. Might also sound tighter.

But yes, overall I agree, it's a lot of money for a pretty stand.

That stand takes up a lot of space, even Genelec does not add a lot of price, the distributor will. It maybe a good engineering, but maybe they forgot about distribution problem too, because you cannot make a smaller box for that leg.

Weren’t the original 6040A’s around $7000USD a pair? These are actually cheaper given inflation…

So I saw correctly the price in the first day of the official presentation.... unfortunately. Kinda exaggerated to say the list. But this is just the first product in their signature line. Let's see what happens next

I usually associate genelec with getting a top of the line speaker with great engineering and build for a very fair price. Really the opposite of a hifi company charging crazy prices for inferior engineering. Seems they are targeting the hifi market with these as far as price.

I like the design and I am happy to pay more more that. The cables at the floor are neat.
But why not a coax design here? Given that we listen to music from all the corner of the living room (sofa, dining table etc) that would have been nice.
