NAD C700 vs Wiim Ultra

Question if I may..

Connected to my NAD c298, what would proved better performance?

Wiim Ultra > RCA > NAD C298

NAD C700 > Pre Out > NAD C298

I presume the Wiim as it has a better Dac but I thought I would ask to see what you guys think..

The c700 is an unbelievable dac and preamp for the money. The Wiim in all forms other than an optical streamer are awful. The Wiim ultra is a terrible dac. I've compare the c700 to the Pontus 2 12th and ares 2 . The c700 wins by a landslide. Use the c700. I've run it into many amps with absolute sonic bliss.

The NAD looks nice and is a lot more money, right? You are buying a whole second amplification system unecessarily.
I doubt you will hear a difference from the DAC/Streaming side. Go for cost and features.

If I were going to spend that money on a Streamer/DAC, I'd be looking at a MiniDSP Flex with a Wiim pro streamer.

What are you looking for as an improvement? Good streamer and DAC? Other connectivity?
Budget?

Your NAD C298 has balanced inputs, do you want to use those (WiiM doesn't have balanced output, might not matter)

Certainly no point in getting another Amp.

It sounds soulless. The nadc700 can be had now for around 799 since version 2 came out. Pretty reasonable for how it voices music.

Cool ... WiiM is ~£350, NAD C700 is £799 ... so a soul is approx. £449 ... that is reasonable!

I would choose the Wiim Ultra primarily for its practical benefits, such as having DSP and basic room correction, in addition to being more affordable.

I think I’m going to wait until I see the reviews when the Bluesound Icon is launched .. would be interesting to see how this compares to the Wiim Ultra or shall I mention, compared to the NaD M66

It's hard to engage with you, I don't really understand what you are trying to say;

The NAD is an integrated amplifier, different product entirely.
'cold', 'voicing', 'soul' are terms that just don't mean anything (in audio). Perhaps you mean they charge a signal's frequency response or add distortion... but we know that doesn't happen.

The Nad is a streamer and dac with an amp. It’s not just an integrated amp. Without using the amp part. It has sounded far better than the Denafrips offerings. And entirely destroyed the music experience of the WiiM ultra. The WiiM isn’t even close.

This is not audiogon. No one is going agree with you. No point in trolling any more. The Wiim products measure well and sound great.
