Looks like wiim have announced the obvious next stage in their extensive lineup, a streamer/amp combo. Just one high performing device sounds good to me, though some of you may require higher power. I certainly don't in my small lounge. Amazed they've essentially merged an ultra, and an amp into the same dimensions. Hope it has vents.

I'd be curious to get wiim products market shares since they launched the wiim mini, real market disruptors. Sonos musn't be happy. That's also chifi territory with western polish.

This is a big deal for small passive systems assuming it's priced affordably. Available Q3 on Amazon.

No Airplay but I think they added Google Assistant.

Loses the phono input, toslink out, coax out and headphone jack of the Ultra.

Losing Coax out hurts.

If this has 3e A7 levels of performance then I’ll go out on a limb and say that it will be the hifi product of the decade.
But even if it doesn’t end up with the dual chips and has Vibelink performance it will still be an amazing product.

Question for electronics experts: as this has proper amplifier modules is there a way to make use of them to provide a better headphone output compared to the one in the Ultra?

The term "chifi" isn't allowed here. I've only seen one person who has a problem with it, but he's the guy who owns the site so the polite thing to do is obey the rules. Use something less contentious; "cheap and/or low quality Chinese audio hardware" for example.

Didn't know about that, it's not pejorative at all in my mouth, actually didn't know it implied low quality, just tightly priced, and just chinese Hifi, which it is the abreviation of. I really don't feel impolite rn but thanx for the newspeak tip .

Why do you want coax out on an amp? The only thing I can think of wanting to connect downstream of this is perhaps a headphone amp.

..which one can still do on the Amp Ultra using USB. Like a Topping DX1 for example.

Both are possible. Even simultaneously IIRC using a hub.

No. The WiiM Ultra and Amp definitely support both mass storage and USB DACs.

I don't see why this would change for the Amp Ultra.
