Hi
I have found a couple of monitor audio bronze 500 for 450€ almost brand new ,with boxes and with everthing , second hand
I own some cantons floorstanding , i like them since i play lots of progressive , i have read they do pretty close the canton GLE and the monitor audio bronze seriers
do you think i could drive them as well with an integral amp 45 watt 8Ω ?
what do you think about these speakers ?
I like a lot Totem and Tannoy sound
I haven't found on the forum any review about monitor audio bronze 500
thanks

Here are some basic measurements of the Bronze 500 6G:
https://www.hifi-voice.com/testy-a-recenze/reprosoustavy-podlahove/2714-monitor-audio-bronze-500-6g#

It has a 5Ω impedance and, according to Monitor Audio, a sensitivity of 90dB SPL (2.83V, 1m).

That would give it an efficiency of 88dB SPL (1W, 1m).

You can use this online calculator to calculate your power requirements:

Enter 88 for the speaker sensitivity.

Sadly I don't know how much power your Amp can output at 5Ω. Could you tell me the exact model name?

Hi
what a beautiful site , i will bookmark even it doesn't give me any information
about amps for example one 45 W for 8 Ω/ohms and another 70 W 4 Ω/ohms and between them i can't understand which one is more powerfull
there is nothing about 5 Ω
thanks

You still don't want to tell us the names of the amplifiers? :p

hi StaticV3
right now the most powerful amps I own it's the AUDIOLAB 6000A 2 X 50W 8Ω -> 2 X 75W 4Ω
about other 2 which is the more powerfull 45 W for 8 Ω/ohms and (60 4 Ω) or 45 8 Ω/ohms ( 70 W 4 Ω/ohms ) , just because i have never understood
thanks

Please just tell me the names, not the power numbers.

Monitor Audios have pretty uneventful impedance and 6000A is a sturdy enough classic design. It will be fine. Do you like to play loud?

AudioLab 6000A will be fine with the Bronze 500s, great match and some great British manufacturing!

Not that great of a match (Bronze 500 would beg for more power), and certainly not British manufacturing. Both products are made in China.

AUDIOLAB 6000A
At 5Ω, the 6000A will be able to output about 97W.

If you tell me the names of the other two Amps
about other 2 which is the more powerfull 45 W for 8 Ω/ohms and (60 4 Ω) or 45 8 Ω/ohms ( 70 W 4 Ω/ohms )
then I can tell you how much power those can output at 5Ω.

hi , no I don't like to play loud , but sometime i read that you need a powerful amp to play music with them
thanks

hi
are you saying that audio lab and monitor audio bronze 500 are made in China ?? and they are even not cheap ...
what do I should i pay for a Japanese amp made in japan 4.000 €
thanks

Static i have more than 3 amps , but may i know why i had to calculate in 5Ω and not at 8 or 4 Ω , they should be the standard?
thanks

How loud do you listen and at what distance from the speakers will dictate amp needs somewhat as will the sensitivity/impedance of the speakers....

I have used the information provided and made further assumptions:
Hi Pogo
beautiful site , it's french ,isn't it?
might I have the link?
thanks

Hi
I see , many times i 'm used to have a talk with some sellers ,and they often say " you need another amp ,just because a 45w 8 Ω Yamaha amps is not so powerful to drive such speakers...
thanks

@Mantra By all means try a more powerful amp with them. I just mean there's no need for immediate worry, especially when you listen at low/medium volume and in a normal room (vs very damped dedicated room).

My comment is based on the speaker technical information. 1) It has quite easy impedance curve 2) there's two 8" woofers and the bass is -6dB at 41Hz so they're not over reaching. There doesn't seem to be anything "special" about the speakers, and I mean this in a good sense.

I have listened to one model lower Bronze and it didn't seem distressed at low to medium volume with normal good quality sub-100W integrated.

I have listened to many Arcam, Naim and Audiolab integrateds 50-60W@8 and they have always been very capable drivers.

hi Verig
ok , mostly amps are 45 at 8 Ω
i don't play music loud , and i can't just for my neighbours , if i want to play loud i use my cable speakers
thanks Verig

My experience is that the SPL formulas are conservative and that a 25W amp drives speakers rated 88 dB and up just fine at moderate volume level.
