monitor audio bronze 500 , can i drive and play with a 45 watt 8Ω integral amp pretty well ?

It depends on the source material, Impedance curve, the distance and the room. If you use room correction, you can even add around 10dB more power to correct dips.

are you saying that audio lab and monitor audio bronze 500 are made in China ??
I'm not "saying that". These just are. ;)Not that it would matter for the end performance, tho, but I just corrected @dan_uk who claimed "great British manufacturing" for both.

Hi Pogo
beautiful site , it's french ,isn't it?
might I have the link?
thanks

Hi
I see , many times i 'm used to have a talk with some sellers ,and they often say " you need another amp ,just because a 45w 8 Ω Yamaha amps is not so powerful to drive such speakers...
thanks
Salespeople have their own goals....you simply need an amp sufficient for your use. The speaker only draws the power you ask it to.

hi Verig
ok , mostly amps are 45 at 8 Ω
i don't play music loud , and i can't just for my neighbours , if i want to play loud i use my cable speakers
thanks Verig
You will be totally fine.

Lots of people here want to have tons of power to avoid any possibility of clipping ever. But momentary clipping on high peaks is rarely audible. This is one of those engineering goals like getting noise and distortion (SINAD) orders of magnitude below audibility. Many here like to chase these goals. This is fine, but music lovers do not need to do that.

Kinda like (and I hate car analogies) just having excessive horsepower, either for actual use, perhaps, but maybe just bragging rights or just having a bigger one :)

@Mantra : you'll be fine with your Audiolab amp for now. If you move to a larger space at some point going forward, you could do a much larger amp at that time.
Those speaks are a very nice starter set of louds.
Cheers

hi @Eric Natural
well i guess for a larger space I should at least a 75W at 8Ω like Marantz Model 50 (1.700€ for an amp made in Vietnam , I mean i have nothing Vietnam , but for 1.700€ I would like to have a made in Japan amp - for a made in Japan I need at least the MODEL 30 3.000€ ...that's sad)
well if i will find a second hand amp i will buy for the future
thanks Eric

@Mantra For larger space or for more demanding speakers you can skip all sub 100W. Just go for 200W@8 nCore / Purifi (usually marketed 400W@4) and you don't have to think about it anymore. Not horribly expensive and will do its job.

Difference between 50 and 75W amps is negligible and depending on marketing and power supply the 50W may be even the better one. Power is cheap nowadays and it'll make sure your speakers work as intended.
But this is just for future reference. Enjoy your new speakers. :)

Hi all

I am in the same situation as the OP.

Same speakers, MA bronze 500 and my amp is an old Luxman L-81, 45w at 8 Ω.

Will it be enough to move this speakers??

One thing to point out, the specs I am seeing of the speakers say that the impedance is 8 Ω, and not 5 Ω like has been said

Welcome to ASR!

If you've used the Luxman (a 50 year old product) with other speakers and not had a problem, then it will almost certainly be fine with the MAs.

Impedance of any speaker varies with frequency, see the plot in the review linked earlier. 5Ω is the minimum through most of the range, 8Ω is a "nominal" rating. But all of this is largely irrelevant to the end purchaser.

Ok, glad to know. Thank you very much for the answer.

I haven't hear the Luxman before with other speakers. At it seen, after much reading, I am building my system the other way around as it's suppose to be done, fist choose the speakers and then the amplifier.

I found the amp in a street market for not too much money, and I bought it not knowing it's rather a good one.

Here in Spain the price of second hand vintage speakers is similar to new entry-level ones, does why I looking to the MA Bronze ones

If the amp is still in good working condition, it should be fine. But these days there are many excellent inexpensive amps with modern features such as built-in streaming.
