KEF Q Meta is Coming

Best typo ever?
:D English is not my native language. Maybe I should have typed: ...'could be seen as'... Or ...'is seen by some as'..
Edit: or just 'entertainment' - Not to be taken (too) seriously.

Edit: After a good night sleep and a new 'like' (of @billou5767) I finally suddenly see I really typed 'ass'. Possibly not a real typo, but a (non-freudian ;) ) subconcious confusion with 'well', in 'as well'.

Well, about some critisism on the KEF Q3 [and (smaller) Q's in general], could it also be that, for 'budget hifi', coaxial drivers like the uni-q's are more expensive to make than seperate midwofers and tweeters of comparable quality, so that, apart from the disadvantages of conventional, it's easier to make a good conventional 'budget' speaker like the Elac Debut reference DBR-62? KEF made some very nice small models in Yesteryears, like the 60's Cresta (same drivers as the almost worshipped BBC ls3-5a) and later the (also closed) C-10; specially tuned to be put against a wall or between the books on a bookshelf..

I would love to see pictures of the inside cabinet of the KEF Q Concerto (if any reviewers are reading this thread :D ).

I use a set of IQ's and with almost two decades of use (I got them second hand), I'm a happy camper.

The drivers are fine, they are in fact great, it’s just that the crossover (the amount of parts) and the cabients are the biggest differentiator between their lineups.

It makes no sense whatsoever for a company to design a bad driver, specially a company that has been developing them for 60+ years.

That fits about what I meant with the question; economizing on cabinets and crossovers for cheaper models. So with some DIY they can be made better, or just eq. Or eq-ing is a form of DIY of course, something important ASR often is about.
With critisism I meant some posts on page 11 of this tread and a few 'mixed' serious reviews and that doesn't say much/much about the several generations of the whole Q series, so my question maybe was too hypothetical.

That's great. Which type, if I may ask?

Fronts are IQ7, center is IQ6c, sides are IQ8ds, rear are IQ3 and height are IQ1. Also, I use a pair of PSW 2500 subwoofers.

Anyone else checking every day for the Q Concerto review? :D

the linton are at 780/850 in france

concerto are not alone in the world
I'm not really interested in buying either. I just want to watch the video. :D

In all seriousness, the next upgrade I was considering is probably a step above. I could get a set of KEF R5 (non meta) for €12-1400 or used R7's for €15-1800 (yes, I'm a KEF fanboy). I'm still interested in seeing what KEF can provide for €1200 in their new lineup though.

I kind of regret returning the Concertos so quickly now, I didn’t realize it would be so long for pro reviews and could have done more testing. Have sidewall first reflections treated now, curious how much that would have cleaned up the mid/tweeter performance with their likely wider dispersion. Woofer performance was pretty obvious, but it’s a gray area for the lil’ guy up top.

German STEREO magazine reviewed the Q Concerto Meta including some measurements. An electronic copy of this months edition (no. 11/2024) is available for 4.99 € on their website. However, measurements are rather basic so don’t expect something like from ASR or Erin.

the conclusion ?

good or no good ? :p

Andrew Robinson posted an in-room measurement of Q11 meta compared to R11 showing same linearity in mids and highs and louder bass (!)
Can't wait to see real spinorama.
I guess the star of the family for quality/price ratio is the Q7 meta

Reviewer says: neutral, voices sound natural, deep and clean bass. Good overall but no comparisons given with, say, other speakers of this price range or R3 Meta etc.

According to the measurements (as I read them): low sensitivity, low distortions, directivity well controlled, higher frequencies start to roll off above 1 kHz.
