Amir has confirmed that Genelec 8361A is the one.

Any more attention is wasted.

If you're too poor to spend $10K on it, then suit yourself endlessly arguing pros/cons of inferior systems.

If you insist on spending more. The suit yourself into the pointless club.

Why so hostile? Amir made the recommendation. You have problem with his choice?

His reply wasn't that bad. I'd rather hear it than for it to be censored

... Genelec are excellent, yes.

But there is a defining moment.

The WHOLE PURPOSE OF THIS FORUM was to figure out what was good.

Now that we know, why continue?

The whole purpose of this forum is to do independent measurements.
Not to look for a speaker that is deemed good enough for someone and then stop measuring.

The only valid criticism I've heard is the Genelec's don't produce a "wall of sound" like Revel Salon 2

I don't know what "wall of sound " sounds like. I want it though.

There is so much admiration and spectacular measurements for the 8361A that its game over for anyone paying attention.

Most decent speakers will produce a good image if setup properly. A wall of sound is a bit of drama but yes some speakers image better than others.

It's seriously occupied my mind since I hear Amir say it when evaluating the Genelecs. You can find it in the video.

What is a wall of sound. How do I get it? DO I have to spend $30K on Revel speakers to get it?

The genelecs have way more power than I need. My room is 15 X 25 feet.

I sit 9 feet away. My speakers are 10 feet apart.

I built the speakers and have a buckeye purifi amp.

9 feet away at 10 feet spacing is getting into the zone for sure. Have you tried bringing them a little bit closer to each other and seeing if you prefer that? What are your DIY speakers about. How large, big woofers or not/size and 2-way or 3-way? Do you listen loud?

No speaker is suitable for every purpose.

In addition to price, other factors such as size, weight, directivity, self-noise, and aesthetics can all be important in evaluating a speaker. The fact that the 8361 is one of the best speakers does not mean that other speakers should not be further explored. For instance, 8361 is not suitable for near-field use in environments with low background noise due to its high self-noise.

True. But for 99% of ASR forum subscribers, the 8361A is their wet dream and will satisfy most wants. Let's just stop pretending there are better alternatives. It's a disservice and fraud to pretend otherwise.

LOL I guess I'm in the 1%, the 8361A isn't something I aspire to. Your post is on the weird side of things. You're trying to make some sort of sarcastic point that's falling flat....
