Guys I need your advice.
In early June I bought a complete amplifier from Audiophonics with two of the 1ET9040BA Purifi amplifier modules for approximately 3000 €.
One week ago I then read the thread about the Buckeye Purifi Eigentakt 1ET9040BA monoblock and contacted Audiophonics and Purifi. Both Audiophonics and Purifi now wants me to open the casing and check the serial numbers of the amplifier modules. The Audiophonics amplifier does not have a serial number or CE mark on the exterior of the casing.
I am afraid that this is a little out of my comfort zone hence the purchase of a complete amplifier and not a DIY kit. When selling and buying used audio equipment scratches and marks are always an issue and I will leave a mark on the case if I open it. (Shipping the amplifier to France and back is really not an serious option)
Now I am 55 and half years old and my hearing on my left ears stops working at approximately 13 – 14 kHz and the right ear is not much better. The new speakers(Elipson Prestige Facet 34F) together with the amplifier is the subjectively the best sounding pairing I have had, especially at high frequency's.
I have suspected from the beginning that the Audiophonics amplifier was an early experimental example, the lacking of a CE mark, no user manual(both legal requirements in the EU I believe) and the fact that the trigger connectors are not working was signs that was easy to ignore for me but the Purifi module issue is a little bit different.
I am disappointed and currently a bit indecisive on what to do.
So my question:
Should I ignore these possible measuring problems and keep the amplifier or should I return the amplifier to Audiophonics?
