Hi Chief, what's the easiest way to measure power wattage sent from an amp to speakers? So that we know how much top wattage is actually being sent to a speaker at the given listening level? Thanks.
I am using Audio Precision. :) You can use a test tone, an AC RMS reading meter and dummy load to measure the voltage. Then watts = V*V/R.

An interesting and useful lesson regarding quality of speaker connections when using high quality, high power amplifiers!
This has been no end of aggravation for me and some amp designer/builders! I routinely have to rebuild my connections to make them secure again to achieve very low distortion at higher powers.

Thank you, Amir !
I gave a bad rating because I believe that when using a VU meter as long as it is calibrated... If it is not there is no other interest than having the lights of Christmas all year round...

Oh my. Another gimmick meter. There are billions of better ways to spend that money.

Not just meters, amplifier/speaker switching .

But, what this device is supposed to be designed for ?
Ok, it looks nice, it's "competent" (of course for a well done passive device, nothing extraordinary indeed), but tha's all.
Fosi should better release a stereo class D amp with the same design and circuits at least as good and as powerful as their best other power amps.

This would be both fun and great for a little good system.

Thanks for the review Amir. This was a fun and cozy VU meter gadget, I must say. :)

Better ways, well Fosi Audio LC30 is a fun little gadget with a VU meter that lights up in the dark. An adult bling toy, nothing wrong with that. Plus it actually has some useful practical features on top of that. For $150 Fosi Audio LC30 is perfectly fine.

Test your hearing with friends. Adjust the volume on the amplifiers until you hear no difference when A/B switching between them, then blind test with your friends to see if they have better hearing than you do. That Friday exercise with good friends alone could almost be worth $150.:)

The function of A/B testing speakers is also provided with the Fosi Audio LC30. It's an excellent way to subjectively compare speakers in your listening room.:)
Having said that, a small addendum. For those who don't already know: Highest volume wins. So you don't fool yourself with A/B switching speakers if they don't have the same sensitivity.

Well, no. Don't waste $150. Instead better spend around $300 and get a TC electronic Clarity M that has excellent value and shows exactly what's going on. And the bling bling factor is there too.

No, it's not. But my question was about the Clarity M. From what little I could see, it doesn't seem to have high-level connectors for speakers. (I didn't find any pics of the back, although I didn't do an exhaustive image search.) It seems to have strictly a low-level function. Is that correct?

Jim
Correct. It only has digital inputs. You can simply use something like a toslink switch after the source to feed it.
