Floating-point DSP vs a fixed-point DSP in a monitor

I just read the Genelec Ones use a floating-point DSP, how much difference does it make?
 
Depends on the DSP bit-widths, DSP speed (MHz), and programmer's skills. Plus a myriad of other details like amount of TCM (Tightly Coupled Memory), cache etc.

Floating point DSPs, especially when mantissa widths are large enough will require less to think about/maintain when programming.
