I'd appreciate opinions/impressions of these, particularly the differences between the 32, 80 and 250 ohm versions.

Search YouTube. A few comparos there.

The problem with the 80Ohm version from my personal perspective is the non-detachable 3m cable. The 32Ohm has a significantly different (less good) sound profile from what I gather from these comparos.

The question for you is this - do you have sufficient amp power for the 250Ohm version?

I own and like the DT770 250Ohm. It is not a neutral or balanced headphone. But it can be very satisfying, a slam monster with sufficient amplification.

I tried the DT770s for a couple of weeks many many years ago. They were too much for [even] me. The Beyer DT990s hit the balance for me between neutral (a la Senn 580 (which I already had and still have—they are twins of the HD600s)) and totally freaked out V-shape FR (which is how I would describe the DT770s).

However, they do what they do and they do it well. o_O If you want it, they got it. I liked the concept, but for me the DT770s were a bridge too far. I wouldn’t look down on anyone for enjoying them. It’s just a matter of degree. :)

Okay, rtings.com has gone bonkers. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/beyerdynamic/dt-770-pro

Actually, the DT770s do quite well on Orotary.com too. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/654wxtmh...?preview=Beyerdynamic+DT770+(new+earpads).pdf

Okay, I don't know what to think anymore. Give'em a try. Everything I thought I knew is out the window. See what you like, because those who test these things "objectively" are absolutely all over the place.
