I suppose since I'd been hearing that the Loxjie A30 uses an inferior DAC for the USB input I was trying to avoid it and stick with the optical wherever possible.

Amir measured it, looks like it's at least half decent... anything 80dB SINAD or higher and it's quite hard to hear anything wrong. By "quite hard" I mean in most situations most people couldn't tell the difference if their lives depended on it. :)

@Steve Dallas has the right idea, mess with the laptop standalone while you wait for the TOSLINK input to arrive. :)

Hi All,

I recently inherited a pair of B&W DM601 S3 Bookshelf speakers. I am using them with my TV optical out, into a Loxjie A30.
I use EQAPO with the Peace front end and find the combination fairly user friendly, so I would recommend downloading both. They are both free and accept the EQ file you can create using REW. Here are the links:

I am not sure... @mdsimon2 would have a much better idea... I think it should, but I have never used an RPi so I don't want to lead you astray here.

Hmm, I have a windows laptop that would nice to use just as a proof of concept to see how the speakers take to being EQ'd.
I looked at the product you linked to add optical to the pc, however that is only an input, I would also need an output, optical out perferrably.
Would this work? https://www.amazon.co.uk/LEAGY-External-Surround-Recording-Compatible/dp/B07DGR9M6M

Also if that were to prove successful, could I use the same product with a raspberry pi setup running camillaDSP?

@MCH has a good thread on a cheap TOSLINK I/O CamillaDSP setup -> https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...lladsp-set-up-instructions-for-newbies.30830/. I believe he had success with a similar budget card from Leagy. Honestly, in my experience if you want to use an external input like optical with software DSP, CamillaDSP on Linux is easier than Windows but YMMV.

EDIT: If you can find a used nanoDIGI which has unfortunately been discontinued, it is a great, cheap (~$100) digital input / output device. miniDSP also still has the OpenDRC-DI which is a bit more expensive but can be found used for under $200 (shameless plug, I have one for sale here -> https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/fs-minidsp-opendrc-di-180-shipped.47256/).
