AsciLab speakers are about to launch

I don’t want to speak for the manufacturer but the drawings I saw were kii/bxt style replacing a stand with the bass module.

I guess it is time to take peoples money for pre-orders. Looks like very nice speakers. You will need to ship a distributor in the US about 1000 pairs. I see a great product in the making!

The one I saw in the drawings looks like a good woofer not a sub, more like the Genelec W371A one which is not a sub.
I believe they will share measurements for those too.

Thanks for you being interested in our speakers. Our next work will be A6B. We are trying to design as same box for both passive and active. We already have designed with same drivers but a little different waveguide and enclosure design. It was really really nice too.
While designing this protype, we learned how to use Purifi driver well.

They look wonderful, and I like that they're not trying to be as absolutely small as possible.

I noticed the below info on this thread. Does this allow for possible change by an owner from passive to active in the future?

"A6B will be released in passive and active versions.
In the case of passive, an aluminum panel of the same size as the amplifier plate will be placed on the rear, and a passive crossover will be installed inside the aluminum panel."

Looks a lot like a cross between D&D 8C and Kii Three :).

My initial impressions after seeing the measurements and price was WOW! For $1,100 those are gonna be near impossible to beat. Even at $2,200 they’d be really hard to beat.

Any thoughts of creating a more expensive tower? I’m adding another 2.0 listening room(largeish), and I’d be super interested in something like that. Based on some teasers from @Purité Audio , I’m waiting on whatever is next from Dutch and Dutch anyway.

It is an exciting time, for measurement led loudspeaker designs.
Measurements replacing ‘myth’ can only be positive.

It looks like I'm going to have some extremely interesting options when I finally decide on what I want as an upgrade to my LS 50 Metas.

Unless these are cardioid, not sure how a “cross” with the 8C? Or maybe you just mean the solid measurement based design? In which case I agree!

The Ascllab team have plans in place!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in designing these speakers. Amazing job! Incredible work.

For those who can't afford 8341's or do not want to spend that much money on speakers, Ascilab speakers seem to be the solution.

The final sample products for C5b, C6b, and A6b will be released soon.

They really look super smart, can you remind the enclosure material is a mineral composite?
Keith

I am totally unaware of modern manufacturing so apologies for probably a naive question, but I cant see any seams or joins, is the ‘white’ the natural colour of the material, and the green and black versions have been painted, or does the material contain the colour?

Judging by the two colors at the green/black versions and what looks like a painting oven at the back probably the former.

The material, primarily composed of aluminium hydroxide, has a density 2 to 3 times higher than that of typical MDF, making it highly resistant to enclosure resonance.
Higher density just changes the resonant frequency, metal resonates like crazy, e.g. bells. Does this material also have damping qualities?

The color is the natural color of the material without any additional paint
Is the white bit around the driver's a rubber seal or similar?
Natural colour is a great way to avoid minor damage showing through.
