AsciLAB @ Purité Audio

That's a $1600 price bump over the A6b passive. Sorry, too rich for my blood.
For sure, it has become expensive.

Having said that, I wonder if the F6C doesn't also do what you want, if you a compact bookshelf with high bass output (relative to its size), low distortion and controlled directivity. Tweeter behaviour is almost certainly going to be the same as the other waveguided SBA, the midwoofer not having too to move to high excursions will likely lower IMD, and having two dedicated bass drivers will get you SPL and low distortion.

Being actives with a programmable DSP, if there is demand for it, Ascilab can almost certainly provide a second mode that removes the cardioid pattern but gives higher SPL output and lower distortion.

This is the passive model with no DSP and no Cardoid. It is $500 more expensive than the March Audio Sointuva AWG. It supplants the A6b passive which Nuyes reviewed just a month ago and gave glowing reviews to. That model sold for $2900, its numbers were plastered all over the pages of this forum, and it was apparently never marketed.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Yes, I find it expensive too, and I wish it was cheaper, but I can't say I'm shocked with the pricing. I wouldn't be surprised if Purifi sells the tweeter for the same price as the 6.5" woofer, in that light the price increase would be proportionate to the BOM increase.

Unless you absolutely wanted Purifi for the namesake, then the closest to the A6B's audio perfomance is probably the F6C.

Fine, but not worth it to me. If I'm going to pay that kind of money, I'd just as soon give Alan a call. This company's speakers were marketed as an unprecedented, ultra high performance value by them, and these models and their performance numbers were plastered all over this forum for literally months by them, and now it's never mind about that, let me show you the model that's 50 percent more expensive. Again, no thanks, we can not do business, you and I.

I'm a bit puzzled about the grilles...

From the document above it seems as though the grilles are optional on the C6B. Are the grilles removable? Is the trim ring always present behind the grille or is it an either/or?

On the F6B and F6Bs it seems that you always get a grille. Again, is this removable? If so, are there images that show how these models look without the grilles?
Clarification from ASCI,
For the F6B and F6BS models, the grille comes pre-attached and is designed to be used in that state. Therefore, we recommend using them with the grille attached.

For the C6B model, a trim ring with a magnet for easy attachment and removal is included as standard, while the grille is sold separately.
The F6B/S grills are held on by magnets so can be removed if the owner prefers the aesthetic but as above designed to be used with.

Thanks for clearing that up.

For those that have missed, Ascilab posted some photographs of the prototype C6C cardioid design and the cardioid subwoofer.View attachment 423219View attachment 423220
I like that more and more brands, do what they can, to incorporate some kind of bass and pattern control - trying to make it neat too. IMO, this is a much-needed approach, in contrast to the outdated Christmas tree pattern of old designs, filters, drivers and no waveguides.

The pricing is not surprising and actually reasonable given they are using the Purifi drivers, which are insanely expensive. The issue here is not the price (somewhat justified again due to Purifi use) but rather the Purifi drivers are fully unnecessary (albeit well engineered, not questioning that aspect). You are paying for distortion performance that I would challenge as even being audible. Serious diminishing returns. ASCI should offer a non-Purifi version for the folks that do not suffer from audiophilia nervosa :p. With this said, not a comment on ASCI designs, excellent engineering, no doubt about it!

Isn't that what you describe the C series? It's not like the SBA drivers are bad either, they are good enough for Revel.

I am rather referring to the S6C + BX10C. And indeed, SB Acoustics drivers are excellent.

I guess BX8C + C6C is not enough for you, you really want 10" :p
Go big or go home … and indeed, not a fan of small drivers … the speakers that will soon be built for me (custom) are full range cardioid towers with 4x10” and 4x12” per speaker ;)

The SC6 and BX10C might be ‘interesting’.

Ascilab is without a doubt a no brainer at any price point. They all seem to be a cure for GAS.

Curious to get opinions on a thought. Dutch and Dutch designed the 8C to have subs on the back which couple with the wall and allow you get low extension and also the aesthetic benefit of having speaker close to wall. Wondering why ASCI is going with side firing subs instead of rear firing? What do you all think will be pros and cons of this design relative to D&D?

Bass below 80Hz is omnidirectional so it really doesn’t matter where the drivers are as far as I am aware, placing close ( within 60cm) just negates self cancellation.

I dont get the whining about the line up. There seems to be something for everyone at every price point.

Clearly they continuously innovate as new drivers/technology becomes available. The A6B was sold locally and has now been replaced. The owners are lucky and i doubt they would be upset. No doubt there will be more product development and changes. Its not a choice for those who can not handle that.

@Purité Audio is on a winner here. Like you did with other brands, your sales model is a great way to bring it to the local market

I get what you are saying. Its shaping up as an ultimate TOTL system, but a version with cheaper drivers also makes sense.

What is the price of these Purifi drivers?
