I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question already, but one never knows for sure, so...

I know Genelec has its SmartIP system that includes a mobile control app and works specifically with its 4400 series of SmartIP speakers.

And I know that GLM works with the Ones (which I have) - but if I'm not mistaken the GLM controller box has no network capability of its own: it attaches directly to a computer through USB, and its ethernet port is exclusively for connecting to the proprietary wired network that links the speakers to each other and to the GLM controller, yes?

So am I correct that there's no way to control GLM from one's phone, except through the workaround of installing a VNC/screen-control app on your phone that allows you to access and remotely control the computer that the GLM computer app lives on?

https://github.com/markbergsma/genlc is a 3rd party implementation of the protocol. It could be used to write a network gateway for a phone app to control, but so far as I know it hasn't been done yet.

The 'proprietary wired network' is an RS485 serial bus, not ethernet, despite using the same connectors and cables.

Many thanks!
