Android based DAPs

You dont get it
Quite possibly but seems to me like you've asked your question and had your answers. I'd suggest trying any of the ones listed in post 2 and any others free on the play store until you find a UI you like. By all means let us know how you get on. Thanks

Thats why I am asking.... Do all DAPs use the same player?? If not which one do they use....
To answer this directly.

No. And you'd need to ask the manufacturers.

Answers yes but not what I was asking... But I appreciate the suggestions as well
Similar but not identical user interface design. The apps are all different.
Yeah thats what I want to know.... Which one do all the DAP makers use

I've tried both Eddict and Hiby. Both aren't terribly good although it's possible to control the music players they're supposed to control with them. Neither does a very good job. The user interfaces in both appear to have been included as an afterthought. Hiby in particular seems like it was designed by the same people who designed the "literacy tests" once used to prevent people from voting in the US. Hiby also wants to take over control of USB audio in situations where it can't handle it like watching video.

It seems to me you've had your answer but don't want to believe it.

No, they don't use one single app. Here are some of the different apps they use:
- Fiio Music, developed by Fiio: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fiio.music&hl=en_AU;
- Eddict Player, developed by Shanling: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shanling.eddictplayer&hl=en_AU
- HiBy Music, developed by HiBy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hiby.music&hl=en_AU

They all look very similar because most music players on Android look similar, and most DAPs today are Android-based. If you want to assume they are the same exact app just because they look similar, then with the same logic you can assume Apple and Youtube are using the same app as these DAP makers, and 90% of all "music apps" you can find in google play store are just 1 app.

To add some extra data, here is the change log for FiiO Music from 2020 to 2024. This proves that at least this DAP maker has been developing its own app, for its players and the generic Android system, for over 4 years.

Yup, literally the first reply ‍

Since the subject was upped, are there any players that use a version of Android maintained with security updates?
All the ones I checked were running very old versions, 7 if I remember well, and there is no way that I would plug such a thing on my network.
