I dont currently own a DAP but have looked at many of them and noticed the playback app they use on Android based players all look the same with maybe a minor tweak here and there. I like the simplicity of them personally. Does anyone know which app they use on these DAPs? I want to use my phone for music on a couple of trips coming up and tried other players, but their UI's are really messy and confusing sometimes.

Thanks!

HiBy use HiBy Music
FiiO use FiiO Music
Shanling use Eddict Player
iBasso use Mango Player

Since they run Android, you can install other apps. I use UPnP Player Pro for my ripped CD collection stored on the DAP. Otherwise, I use the native Tidal, Amazon and YouTube Music apps.

I have the Hiby R6 gen 3. I don't like the Hiby app.

OK... I just noticed a pattern between DAPs and wanted to know if they all used the same base music app since they all look alike but I could never get in to check the app.

The 'go to' players players for Android are USB Audio Player Pro (AKA UAPP) and Neutron Player. However I think they both have pretty messy and dated UIs. I use PowerAmp which looks much better, but still has 'audiophile' features like the ability to apply PEQ - in fact it can apply a PEQ profile based on the device connected, which is useful if you use multiple devices like me - i.e. Connecting: Qudelix 5K (applies No PEQ), Galaxy Buds Pro (applies GBPro PEQ) & 1more Sonoflow (applies Sonoflow PEQ).

Yeah but Im looking for what DAPs use as their base player

I have PowerAmp and find it extremely messy UI wise....

I think it depends on the DAP, there is no 'base player'. Also consider that the player for a DAP may rely on custom buttons for play, skip track, etc. that may not exist on a phone.

Have you tried any of the 3rd party skins for PowerAmp? I use Dark Default skin by Ultimate Designs, but it seems to have disappeared off the Play Store!

well the ones I seen on the different DAPs all seem to look the same....

Well they all have Play/Pause, Previous and Next Track buttons, but apart from that they all look very different to me. For example, the vertical ordering of the progress bar, track control and other buttons differs (progress bar is below track buttons on the Fiio, above the track buttons on the Hidiz, welded to the bottom of the album art on the A&K)

Sure they have small differences and tweaks but the overall player seems to be the same.,.. If they are all different I find it hard to believe they just happened to make them look similar

when I said "they" I was referring to the examples on the list I linked

Windows, MacOS and the major Linux Windows managers all have windows, icons, menus and pointers (WIMP). Do you think they are all the same underneath?

Below are the UIs from Apple Music, Youtube Music and Musicolet on Android.

Can you tell them apart from the DAP ones you mentioned? To me they all look like a generic music player.

Thats why I am asking.... Do all DAPs use the same player?? If not which one do they use....
