Allo Boss2 Review (Stereo Streamer)

Are you saying that you are running V 8.1.1 of Moode on your Boss2? If so, that is a very old version. The current version is 10.2. There was a big change in Moode/Boss2 support back in the V 8 (8.3?) time frame. At that point, the underlying kernel software (not Moode itself) stopped supporting the DAC driver(s) for the Boss2 and the Moode automated upgrade function stopped working. That eventually was fixed, although you needed to do a complete new install of version 9.X to get everything working again. If you are really that far back (v8.1.1) , I would try getting a fresh SD card and doing a complete new install of the current Moode package.

I would also recommend that you ask for some help over on the Moode support forum. The developer (Tim Curtis) is responsive and the community over there is a big help with Moode issues.

Note - I used to run Moode on my Boss2 but switched to RoPieee a while back as it was just simpler and more tuned to how I use the box (pure Roon endpoint).

Yes, I guess I have a fairly old version. I thought it would ask for upgrade but I was wrong. Mconnect I was using became incompatible with Moode.
For the moment I solved using Qobuz app over airplay, which works fine.
I don't have that much time now. In case I wanted to update to current software version, how can I get fresh SD card?

You just need to order a MicroSD card from Amazon (or other retailer). I think you only need about 16G for the OS (assuming you aren't loading other content on the card). You will also need software to format the card (e.g. Rasberry Pi Imager). I believe there is a Moode guide to load and configure the card from scratch that provides a lot of the setup details.

or, looks like you can now purchase a card pre-loaded with Moode (not sure what version):

I see. Thanks a lot for the info. I am a lot into music and audio, but not so much into this kind of stuff.
Maybe I will try that or, if I want to make things simpler, I will just sell it and buy a streamer. I have several of them in different rigs and they work very well without all these complications. Perhaps a Wiim (already have one), which costs about the same as the Boss 2 and it's a marvel.

The official Raspberry PI 64GB SD card is a little faster but the Amazon card is great too for less dollars per card.
