AIYIMA A07 TPA3255 Review (Amplifier)

I just hooked up my old Aiyima A07 and am really enjoying it. I have several tpa3255/tpa3251 amps and I like the subjective sound of this one the most, even though the measurements tell me I shouldn't. I have an original Topping PA5, the Fosi V3 and the A07. Of the three, the Aiyima has the highest gain, the Topping the lowest gain and the Fosi is in between the other two for gain. While I appreciate the lower distortion of the PA5, it just doesn't have the same "wallop" in dynamics and neither does the Fosi. It's interesting that in the measurements, the Aiyima A07 has the lowest high frequency distortion at 6w and 15khz even though it has 10db more gain than the Topping and 5 more db than the Fosi. All the extra feedback doesn't seem to have much effect above the mid-frequencies.
And the sound gets much better with better caps, bypass caps, OPA1656 (with caps/bypass caps between pin 4-8). It is a very cheap but effective tweaking.
in my sleeping room I use Fosi V3 Mono up to about 3,5khz and above the A07 for a Fostex Horn Tweeter.......works really great.

All the evidence shows that this is vanishingly unlikely.

Still, if you have measurements showing the improved parameters on the output of the amp, I am willing to be proved wrong.

Where is it shown? Which parameter shows a wider, deeper or a better 3d soundstage?
If there were a difference on the output causing those things to change then you would be able to measure a difference.

But there won't be: electronics don't influence sound stage. Soundstage comes from the way the music is produced (differing phase and level between the left and right channels) and the positioning of speakers and their interaction with the room (reflections).

Let this be written and understood: subjectively perceived characteristics like "soundstage" and "imaging" are not a function of amplification. If changing and/or adding components to an amplifier introduces an audible change -- whether heard as an improvement or not -- in the listening experience, the overwhelming odds are that the modification has had an effect or effects than can be measured.

Hello, in mono only 1 rca works?
Hi @JEK! Welcome to ASR.

The A07 does not have a Mono mode.

If you want to output to a single speaker, simply use one of the two channels and leave the other disconnected.

Thank you very much, I've been following the forum for a few years, but I don't speak English well and it's a little difficult to chat and speak some more technical terms.

I have a lot of measurement equipment, a lot of projects, but as my English is that of a translator, I just try to read.

As for Aiyima, I asked in the wrong place, the question was about the a07 max, I found answers from the manufacturer. I have a question but I won't be able to be understood in English, thank you.

Google translate normally works quite well.

hello guys im new here..just wanna ask its ok to use 1 aiyima a07 just for center speaker? do i need to replace it with the mono one?
my setup are the following:
Anthem mrx 300 as preamp (all stereo channel mode) without subwoofer
1 a07 for for Paradigm monitor9 tweeter by amped on front channel using rca y splitter. with PSU 32vdc/5A
1 a07 for Paradigm monitor9 two mid/bass woofers by amped on front channel using rca y splitter. with PSU 48vdc/12.5A
1 a07 for Jbl s26ii center speaker on center channel..just using right rca on a07. with PSU 32vdc/5A
1 fosi audio fosi audio tb10d for Victor Zero5 speakers on surround channel. with PSU 32vdc/5A (but burnt ribbon tweeter every time i dial my anthem at -10db?) another question here do i need to replace the 32vdc/5a PSU to a higher 48vdc/12.5a the same as my fronts mid/bass woofers? What seems to burnt my ribbon tweeter? its my 3rd time to replaced it with Beston RT002A Ribbon Tweeter.

Thanks,
ASR
Tia for the reply guys cheers!

I like subjectively A07 over PA5 II Plus. I think it's because of 29db gain of A07. Speakers have that extra power and start to breeze.

FYI: There is a version of this amp called A07 Premium. My apologies if it has been posted on ASR already. The Premium uses the case as the heatsink. My preliminary impression is that it sounds the same as my FOSI ZA3, runs as cool and is also a bit smaller. AIYIMA A07 Premium

Very strange - that model doesn't exist on the official Aiyima website and it can't be found on Aliexpress either.

This is not unusual or new. I have seen some Aiyima devices that did not appear on the website. For example, there was a TPA3255 based mono subwoofer amplifier from Aiyima years ago. When I asked, they just said that it was not a listed model.

Perhaps the A07 Premium is still too new, but it is still being sold.

Very interesting. The overheating issue of the original A07 would not have been a problem if a bottom mount chip/heat spreader design was done in the first place.

While acknowledging that the original A07's thermal management is woefully inadequate, FWIW I can testify that my two stacked A07s -- which have been powered up pretty much 24/7/365 running on 46-47 VDC for 4+ years -- have never had a single thermal shutdown or even gotten uncomfortably hot to the touch.

A07 Premium is now available on Amazon (and other platforms as well), Aiyima's Product Page.

Seems like the most significant differences from the non-"Premium" A07 are the staggered layout of the binding posts and the fact that the 3.5 inch TRS jack's output is controlled with the volume knob, which makes it suitable for connecting an active sub. The upgraded shunt capacitors are nice but not crucial, and one would presume the heat sinks are better/larger and/or there's thermal coupling to the case.

Product page makes no mention of improved heat management, struck me as odd.

I'm not sure why someone would now buy this over the A07MAX amp - I guess, just for volume, with the log pot rather than the taper on the MAX?
