This is still pretty much the way that directions work in much of Vermont (and parts of New Hampshire, too). GPS isn't very useful around here anyway because the direction algorithms or whatever don't do a very good job of differentiating between real roads and what are known 'round here, at least, as "Class 6" roads. Class 6 roads -- are not for regular, licensed on-road vehicles. They can be difficult to hike.
My advice two days are enough. Skip the the 29th.
