I think the reason you had to turn down the eq was the distortion which along with the price are the dealbreakers.

Quite sure better performance can be had for a far lower price.

Testing Used IEM's? I just find that strange.
Regardless of their performance, IEM's don't appeal to me for music enjoyment for a multitude of reasons.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Now ThieAudio Monarch Mk2, which @crinacle ranks highly and his measurements shows close to the Harman target curve!

Yeah, that and the Moondrop Variations, which adheres pretty well to the Harman target as well.

And of course, the AKG suspects, N400 and N5005...

I have tested others. I use them all the time during summer to block out noise. Regular headphones are either too hot if closed, or don't block noise if open. I also wear them outdoors.

Controversially, IEMs are my favorite way to enjoy music (or any other content) no matter the weather nor place, their power requirements, convenience and comfort reigns supreme in my book.

In fact I've bought another open over-ears (HE400se) yesterday after at least three years without one (having had quite a few in the past, they all ended up on sale).

I'm just wondering, how audible is that distortion at 2% level or higher? Since this IEMs is extremely detailed, and it isolates noises quite good I think it'll be easier to hear the characteristic. At that level of distortion, does it cause weird noises to pop out, or does it simply change the timbre and tonal of the music being played?
Thanks for the fantastic review Amir.

THEY COST HOW MUCH??? o_O

I'll get me coat..

Let me introduce you their higher priced model:

And it's not even the most expensive IEM out there (but it's one of the most, for sure).

Really though, 8 kHz is the ear canal resonance peak which is there for all shallow insertion IEMs. The peak fluctuates depending on the anatomy of the specific listener and can be anywhere between 6 kHz or 9 kHz. Only deep insertion iems, i.e. etymotic, avoid this peak by moving it past 10-12 kHz.

Perhaps he refers to hygiene reasons, but I'm sure that Amir is more than aware about it.
Its not the Hygiene per say.
IEM's as I see them are a very personal thing. like a razor, Toothbrush, underwear or socks.

A modern equivalent would be an electronic cigarette. It just seems odd to share.

In my defense, she was naked so I did not want to be rude.

Took out my spl meter to hear (on different headphones, not in-ears) how loud 94, 104, and 114 dB are. Couldn't go over 94 dB which is already far louder than I am normally listening to. At 94 dB, distortion is mostly below 0.5% except for the range between 300 and 600 Hz where it reaches up to 0.75 percent. No issue for me.

My only gripe with the U12t is the lack of treble energy above 5 kHz, or to be precise, between 5 and 15 kHz. This gives it a relaxed presentation that works well for some genres (and moods), but leaves to be desired for others.

Yes, I also know people for whom IEMs are the main listening source and don't mind spending thousands on them. To each his own, it's all about our entertainment. :)

Thanks for the review Amir, nice to see the U12T reviewed.

Hey look, lots of new posters jumping to defend an overpriced iem. Nice.

I guess that made in the USA vibe doesn't translate into VFM compared with the current crop of $500-800 chi-fi tribrids.

*chi-fi =high fidelity audio products made in China. Any bias is your own, there's none implied in my use of the phrase and I don't consider it pejorative.
