Yes, but still I feel the price gap between an 8 inch 3-way KH310 vs a 6.5 inch 2-way is not that big.
But as said before the KH310 has no DSP functionality so you can't directly compare their prices, same as the Genelec 83xx models are more expensive than the 80xx ones.

Really looking forward for an ASR review of this product. That will put to rest the high level of speculation about these. Judging by past Neuman products performance, I expect it to be from competitive to excellent.

Peace.

Then it's a shame they don't offer a non DSP version of KH150

From price perspective I understand you and feel the same, but on the other hand companies like Neumann and Genelec want to deliver state of the art so I doubt we will see (m)any new non-DSP products coming in the future from them.

IK multimedia are also bringing out a new set of DSP monitors called the MTM Precision which. There are two models including a dual 5” version and a single 6” version.
I’ll be very interested to hear how they all compare when they become available.

My shortlist for upgrading my KH120/Eve TS108 setup is :-

-1: change Eve TS108 to Neumann KH750dsp
-2: replace KH120/Eve TS108 with Neumann KH150
-3: replace KH120/Eve TS108 with Focal ST6 Solo6
-4: replace KH120/Eve TS108 with IK MTM Precision

Reading the specs of the KH150 I'm not sure to understand the spec well, I have two questions :
  • The Max. SPL calc. in half space for 100Hz-6kHz and for bass 50Hz-100Hz is higher for the KH150 compared to the the KH310. At the same time, the Max. short term SPL with music material at 2.3 m is higher for the KH310 with Subwoofer.
My understanding is that intermodulation distortion is probably a key point here, but why does using a subwoofer with the KH150 would not allow it to keep the harmonic distortion spec lead compared to the KH310?
  • The Max. long term SPL with pink noise at 2.3 m with subwoofer for the KH150 is lower than that of the KH80. How to interpret this?

Nice to see specs and charts listed by Neumann so far. Hoping they post the directivity data soon.

“The KH 150 closes the gap between the KH 120 and the KH 310, but it does far more than that. Its internal DSP engine offers many benefits such as a phase linearised crossover and a new level in tonal consistency. The KH 150 is made to extremely low tolerances of no more than ± 0.8 dB! And you can hear it, too, stereo imaging is razor-sharp.” Stephan Mauer - Neumann Portfolio Manager

Man the $1750 price point just sounds so out of this world relative to that woofer size and it being a two way. The performance better be absolutely undisputed as top knotch to command that price.

For perspective a non-DSP version would look similar to (for example) this PSI Audio monitor on the inside. Does it make sense for the manufacturer to develop an entirely new circuit board for what is nominally the same product?

A non DSP version achieving the same kind of specs would likely be more expensive, not less. Consider that every single part that you see will have to be individually checked for performance to achieve tight tolerances.

Neumann KH 150 Canadian pricing is now live:

Compared to Genelec 8340A:

Even 8350A is a better deal:

Not to mention Genelec 8331A:

I'm assuming exceptional KH150 performance, so I'm just talking about $ for their woofer size and equivalent Genelec options.
I still think Genelec is a better value for the money here in Canada.

Neumann products used to have excellent value and were cheaper than Genelecs
Now it's the other way around, which is a shame.
