Every few years for the past 30... I grab Naked City's (John Zorn) eponymous release and see how much of it I can get through. Zorn is great at pacing... by the time you think "OK, that's enough" - the song is already over (or transitioned to something more melodic for awhile). Don't even know what genre you'd put this in... "avant-garde noise" or maybe it should be called "death jazz" - regardless it's a fun adventure, but a bit hard to work or relax to.

The current band are very pale imitations of the classic trio from '72 to '88 and I was shocked when I heard what they'd done last year to this and other classic albums they made. I never partook of anything other than alcohol in my life, but this just sends me anyway and always brings tears to my eyes several minutes in when it all kicks off, Edgar's guitar crying out for me into the universe...
