I have always found it fascinating when an everyday instrument, in this case a guitar, is used in a different manner. This TED episode epitomizes that with "percussive guitar:"

First is the pupil and then an amazing duo with the master, Preston Reed.

Very slightly OT, but a nice one - saw this man live, years ago; was as captivating as this video suggests ...

When I bought my first CD player in 1982-1983, Adnreas Vollenweider was one of the first CDs I bought. They had amazing sense of space and music I liked. Thanks for reminding me of that!

Heard these guys in Madeira last year.

Or is that just unusual musical instruments. They're called Camachofone, don't know what the percussion pipe organ's called.

Youtube suggested this delightful duo along the same theme of the thread:

They played at our church in Massachusetts a few years back!

Not utterly unique, but I was (am) quite smitten by Vicky Genfan's percussive guitar technique. I think her playing (and the arrangement) here is phenomenal. YMMV, of course.

Stick with it 'til the solo :)

Well, the last one is a joke, but this one is for real. Invisibl Skratch Piklz FTW. I was lucky to catch the late era of turntablism before digital took over. Acohol Razorblade Slide is probably my favorite, but I can't find a live version with 3-4 of them at once.
