I don't like listening on HP, but comparing to above post, it would save a lot of hassle

And imho very ugly too (not to talk about the acoustic disadvantages).

i actually find them kind of pleasing to the eye, but i wouldn't wonder about a hefty pricetag especially due to all the material waste from cutting out so many boards
i do wonder about the resonant properties of them boxes, tho

i'd probably prefer to go log, if it had to be all-natural:

Lol
These are real (and very expensive) speakers somehow.
I'll bet that the cabinets are probably very inert.
I've gotta admit, I kind of like the looks of those!
They could be built out of plywood scraps/offcuts to good effect, I would think, too.
The drivers look like pretty serious ones -- so, up to a point, I could forgive a premium price tag on 'em.

If you have to take only two books on a desert island, these should be the ones:
Videoton D93.jpg
A pair of vintage Videoton Musical Encyclopaedia D93, with look and size of regular encyclopedias. Videoton was big Hungarian audio/video company (it is active now, but in other OEM areas).
Inner works:
Videoton D93 mesh.jpg
One 6.5cm cone tweeter and two 9cm "woofers" in sealed enclosure. Crossover consist of only one capacitor for the tweeter.
Nice little connectors on the back side:

Measured anechoic frequency response for both loudspeakers:

Not bad, after two (known!) total repairings (badly burned voice coils on all drivers). These are genuine bookshelf loudspeaker, so they must be set up on a book-shelf (preferably between other books), against the wall, so the frequency response below 1 kHz will nicely fill up in level to match mid-high band.

Ok, I'll say I think it is ugly too. It was limited edition model so just as well IMO.
