(1) I suppose you are using the highest level of light (3 different levels) for the display? I can understand if the display looks dim in a bright room. I am using the middle level of light, that works in my room, which is quite dark, lit by a number of smaller lamps. My only complaints about my DX7Pro have nothing to do with the sound.
(1) The display is very dim. Impossible to see from across the room using the remote, unlike the DX7s.
(2) The remote needs to be aimed directly at display or nothing happens (unlike the DX7s which like most devices, would work, even if the remote was bouncing IR off the walls.)
Customer service responds that this is a "feature" in that the new unit uses tempered glass to make it more high end-looking than DX7s.
However, given even the picture of the test unit here, I'm still wondering whether I got a "dim" unit. And given that the displays and/or the connection to the LCD/Oled displays are the first thing to go on chi-fi gear, I worry about long-term longevity on this one particular unit. (Note that the DX7S display is not the problem, but SMSL and NFJ/Fxaudio "meets" problems.)
So what is the feeling of other DX7Pro owners who also have DX7s -- is the display significantly more dim?
And how about the remote sensitivity -- do you have to aim directly at the unit, and if you just haphazardly point in the direction like you'd normally do, most of the time it "misses" and doesn't change...
(2) I agree.
