The kit we bought, our current setups

He didn't want to take them back. This was using classifieds, not Ebay or something, so i'm on my own. When i called him before, i asked explicitly if there are any problems or defects. None he said.

So i called him, asked him to take them back. His story changed. In the end he denied i even asked him anything. You could basically listen to the story change bit by bit, until he was the victim. In the end he said the speakers where in top condition and they are my problem now.

Needless to say, i was fuming at that point, what a lying piece of orange peel.

Once i cooled down, i called a friend, who is a lawyer. He said it's basically his against my word and he doesn't recommend to go the law route, says it's easiest to just move on. The money doesn't hurt me anyway, and i don't need the stress just to make a point. So that's what I'm doing, it's decided.

So then i called Kef. I asked what the driver units cost. 240€ a piece, 6 weeks delivery time. I'll order two tomorrow. If the Wireless II have the same replacement part number i might even get a classy grey instead of the rather ugly copper. :)

Once i have the new ones, i'll sell the ugly drivers. Maybe someone has totally broken ones or maybe someone wants to build a pair of Metas the very cheapest route.
Was just thinking the same. See about repair cost and I bet it's still less than buying new. So you will still come out ahead at least with effectively a brand new set.

BTW, Kef would take 40€ to exchange and test the drivers, which sounds fair. But then shipping would be added to it of course.

Watched a guy on Youtube doing it. You pull off the outer ring with your fingers and can then access the screws to replace the driver. I'll do it myself. What could possibly go wrong.

I do not have the MacMIni or the Benchmark any longer - got rid of them when upgrading the receiver from Marantz SR5005 to SR7008 - this got me the Xt32 version of Audyssey. Music now comes from an iMac and the AVR is used for DAC duties.
There is also ATC C4 Sub.

There are more (Airplay) zones:

Bedroom is Airport Exress to AVI DM10 actives

Study is iMac to B&W MM1 actives

Bathroom is Sonos Roam (which is also taken out to serve the balcony or garden on occasions)

Kitchen is Airport Express to Genelec 6010 actives

Worth mentioning: the remote is Philips Pronto TSU9400, which is absolutely fantastic. Press one button and everything gets ready: power on/off, input selection, vol levels set etc, including when you change activities

I'm looking for something like that for some time but never could decide. Ordered yours used for 25€.

Do not forget the sub, too!

Pronto 9400 for 25 Euro?!!! This is a bargain of the century! New it was something like 800!

Indeed, i ordered a SRU9400, not a TSU9400. Must have taken a wrong exit somewhere.

It's not as feature rich, but can learn macros as well, so we'll see.

No matter, it should do.

Seller cancelled for some reason.:p

New preamp. Swapped out a Yamaha C-4 for this TA-E7B. Gonna sit here and watch the VU meters dance for a while.

Holly gosh! Is that a Sony V-FET amp? Or does it just have the Sony look of the time? Apparently the former now I've checked; (see Vintage knob).

Many years ago I owned a Sony TA-4650 V-FET. Its power was wholly inadequate for the Ohm F's I was using a the time ...

Just a preamp, no power amp. Way overkill as a device for input switching between two sources and volume control, but it's worth it as decor. And I like having tone controls and other minor features.

This model has been on my wish list for a while for its looks and shallow depth. I guess there were only 100 made for the US market.

Oh my, that is a nice preamp. I do love the old Yamaha gear, and the new stuff seems to be of the same kind. Here is my workbench. A Yamaha CA-2010, with a Mitsubishi DA-F20 FM tuner, and a WCA-50 network streamer.

I like the 260- used one for decades before biting the bullet and buying a Fluke.

I donated my old JVC 5.1 receiver to goodwill. I do not like soundbars, so I put together a budget amp/speaker setup for my living room. Very satisfied with the sound quality and the imaging/separation on these speakers. Musical with input from my DAP, and also and great with TV. I also use a sub (at low volumes, 80Hz crossover) to add sub-bass rumble.
