This project started with a friend who wanted me to make studio monitors for him. He loved the mid-range (no surprise due to the FIR filters) but the low end ran out of gas too soon so he didn't end up wanting to keep them. So, I painted them white and flew them in my garage. These things sound really good with the Hypex FA253 amplifier and FIR filters in place. The Drivers are Scanspeak Revelator 18W/8531G-00, Scanspeak 12MU mid range, and Satori TW29DN (4ohm). Crossover slopes are mostly 48db and 36 db an octave FIR (around 250Hz and 1800Hz). Phase is mostly flat and frequency response is pretty good. F3 around 40Hz with dual 2" ports.

That's a serious pair of garage speakers you've got there!
I like the front veneer- very pretty, and the contrast with the sides helps.
Enjoy!

Some serious bracing there, good to see.
The walls are 1 and 3/8" thick. 3/4" plywood, 1/8" mass loaded vinyl then 1/2" MDF. Bracing is 3/4" MDF. They weigh over 80 pounds each. Ha!

Awesome build. I am sort of shocked your friend didn't just integrate a subwoofer, studio monitors which can play below 40Hz at high SPL are unicorns.

We talked about another build. Ultimately, these were just the wrong speakers for the space and I agreed with everything that he was saying. I needed a design with woofers that handle more power and have less low end. I could have faked it a bit with these by using a high pass filter and some EQ, but that's just the wrong approach. I might move forward with some pro type woofers in a more powerful box. We will see. Nothing lost for me as it was an amazing project. Plus, I get to listen to these in my garage now and they are amazing.
