This is a case where "context" is important!
So much less interested in this product now....
I thought it was going to be a DAC from Hooters.

That's great to test when 0dBFS output is above 4V rms (or 2Vrms for unbalanced). Most of the time the DAC only outputs 2 or 4 volts and there is no volume control. As such, measuring at different output levels doesn't make sense. In cases where the output goes above nominal, then yes, it is useful and I will continue to measure it.
I am. If you have a pre-amp after it, that is how you use it.Who is using a DAC at full level?

What is the point of reviewing this since it's way overpriced and 5+ years old?
Makes sense!I like to get at least one sample tested from every audio company. Gives us some clue versus no data at all as to their engineering skills.
OK. Fair enough.I am. If you have a pre-amp after it, that is how you use it.
DACs with volume control are a new thing. Most don't have a volume control and some that do, don't have remotes. RME ADI-2 was this way until the latest version.OK. Fair enough.
But is that the most widely spread use case ?
Aren't most people driving their amp directly from the DAC and using digital level control (with remote) ?

With any luck, tomorrow. When will review marantz sr6014?
T&A stands for "Theory and Application (in audio)".
Impressive numbers for a dac released 7 years ago.
Hopefully Amir’s back doesn’t give out, or the stairs magically lessen.Hopefully people have the means to keep on sending in AVRs, multichannel amps and PA amps(used for subs) because there are a lot of people interested in those measurements.
You think jokes are free? They are not. I have to go and buy the good ones. And that means money. So please donate what you can using: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/how-to-support-audio-science-review.8150/
