HI
I am trying to follow this tutorial and have got to the checking levels stage. In the tutorial he says to go to preferences and the soundcard tab. When he gets to the point of checking levels he says to increase the volume on the (in my case) avr until the output and input levels are the same/close around -12dbfs
Even with my Denon x3300w at full power it doesn't reach -12 dbfs, and its ridiculously loud.
I'm obviously doing something wrong so what is it?
If there are any better tutorials out there please link to them. I find a lot of the guides tell you to do something but not how to do it.
I'm using a umik1 and have loaded the calibration file.
Thanks

Don't worry about the absolute levels, or matching input to output levels.
Just set the volume to where you usually have it and start measuring.

REW will warn you if the volume is too quiet to produce good data.

On Windows, use Java EXCL for inputs and outputs in the Soundcard preferences, that'll make sure that no Windows APO can mess with the data.

I was under the impression Asio4all was a better option than java?

Java and Java EXCL are two different things.

Java EXCL uses the Wasapi Shared API for bit-perfect playback and recording. It does not get any better.

Additionally, it's been more stable than ASIO in my experience.
