It was with much expectation that I walked into the Raidho as they always played great european music with amazing fidelity. But with the lead demo guy gone, the dream was shattered. Just one classical track playing.
Raidho: Shostakovich: Violin Concerto No.1 In A Minor, Op.99 -2. Scherzo (Formerly Op.77;Allegro) by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Lisa Batiashvili, Symphonieorchester Des Bayerischen Rundfunks. https://shz.am/t56392151
My friend Chris played the standard Dolby Atmos demo tracks. It had mind bending ambiance compared to junk soundstage we get with stereo. I don't know how we can talk about realism with stereo after hearing this low cost system do its thing in both horizontal and vertical dimension. On that front, they had up firing speakers which did not do a great job of giving the impression of height. Reall ceiling speakers would do much better.
Wavelength Audio. Vaughn speakers. Folks were sitting in the corner having a good old time conversing. So I took pictures and after hearing one track, left:
First Paradigm redid their speakers with the new line. Now it is their sisteer company, Anthem building beautiful hgih-end looking electronics to go with it:
Hmmm. I don't know what happened to my pictures of Elac and Audio Alchemy rooms (sister companies now). They were showing production Adante speakers. Here are the music they played though:
The evening was nicely finished by a wonderful piano performance by Robert Silverman telling us history, story and music of Chopin. What a great man and storyteller (both vocally and through piano).
The Steinway piano sounded nicer than ton of recorded Piano I have heard. Its reverberation and at times dynamic sound was clear example of why stereo doesn't replicate live.
Not sure this is useful but this is what I captured of performances of the night by Chopin:
Nocturne No.18 in E, Op.62 No.2
scherzo no.3 in c sharp minor op.39
Waltz No. 7 in c sharp minor, Op. 64,2
Prélude No.25 in C sharp minor, Op.45
