The most important thing to do before looking for an explanation for what you hear, is to start by proving you do indeed hear it when listening ears only. If you do the test, regardless of outcome, you will learn a lot.

OK if you come round and change the cables while I close my eyes I'm up for it :)

How do you like the Modi Multibit? Was it too distorted sounding?

I would have tried Modi Multibit + Eitr but the nice guys @ Schiit made a stuoid mistake - they put in the package two 16 v transformers .. they are both for 16V, while one had to be for 6V and the other for 16V.

BTW: any ideas to eliminate those horrible transformers?
thanks

If I connect the Modi Multibit in this way:

mini mac --> (usb) --> Multibit --> (rca) --> preamplifier

yes, it works.

But if I connect both the devices (Eitr + Multibit) in this way:

mini mac --> (usb) --> Eitr --> (spdif) --> Multibit (selecting SPDIF input) --> (rca) --> preamplifier

nothing happens :(:(:(

BTW this is the RCA/SPIDF cable: https://tinyurl.com/qm6qg2c

help!! thank you all :(

Did you install Eitr drivers?

Nevermind. You have OSX. Maybe there’s no driver for Eitr under OSX

yes ... Lion X tells me that the device connected is Eitr (but there is no possibility to adjust any parameter )

You have coax selected on mimby?

Also try a different coax cable?

Other option is try something else going into the mimby coax input.

Then try a different device on the Eitr output....

Did you try the Midi app? On the Mac the Midi app is used to adjust sound parameters.
