The Beautiful Fantastic - wonderful film with Tom Wilkinson who sadlypassed away very recently.

haven't seen it yet, but it looks special mixing the stop-motion with live action

Marvellous - based on the life of Neil Baldwin, a chap with mild learning disabilities who leads an extraordinary life! Toby Jones is brilliant as the lead.

The most heartwarming and touching film I’ve seen in ages.

Two lesser known movies that I really enjoyed:

Wristcutters: A Love Story, a black romantic comedy that starts with the main character comitting suicide and waking up in a sort of purgatory (like the real world, that he just tried to escape, except slightly shittier).

Beginners: a melancholy romantic comedy about a guy (Ewan McGregor) who lost his mother, and subsequently his dad (Christopher Plummer) - who came out as gay after the death of the mother - is diagnosed with cancer. Tbh, his relationship with Melanie Laurent isn't really that central, so it isn't that much of a romantic comedy, I guess :)

"When a large Iranian-American family gathers, a family secret is uncovered that catapults the estranged mother and daughter into an exploration of the past, and to discover they are more alike than they know." Touching comedy drama that takes place in the US (75%, English) and Iran (subtitles) with happy ending. Refreshing and fun to watch. Netflix

I often send this short to friends, The maker organized a carnival ride in a warehouse in England to tell a life story from birth to death using small illustrations. It works on the zoetrope idea. Searched, haven't found on ASR. 6:30 not a movie, worth watching. I would say real, not necessarily refreshing, Made in 2008. It is not well known. Now known to ASR.

I have always been a huge fan of It's a Wonderful Life (1946) since I first saw it as a kid. I came across a screwball comedy made by Frank Capra with Lionel Barrymore and Jimmy Stewart the other day and cannot recommend it enough: You Can't Take It With You (1938). It won best picture at the 1939 Academy Awards.

Excellent comedy from Quebec, released in 2003 in French: Called Seducing Doctor Lewis with English subtitles, La Grande Séduction without. At least three remakes since then, but the original is still the best.

The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T
