A couple years ago it started that if someone was smoking on a TV show or Movie I would often smell the smoke.

It has now started spreading to other things on shows and movies. I was watching a vehicle rebuild clip and when a large amount of gas leaked out of the car, the smell sensation of actual gasoline was quite strong.

Anyone else experience this?

A quick search turns out that it isn't too rare and I do know that smell memories can be quite strong. In high school I used to help a friend deliver newspapers in his car and we'd eat cheese popcorn while we did it. Even today the smell of newsprint and I pop right back to that moment and hanker for cheese popcorn.

In the credits for the 1964 film "Paris when it sizzles" they give Givenchy credit for Audrey Hepburn's perfume... so it seems Hollywood knew this.

Oh to live in a world where I had a smell memory of Audrey Hepburn.

Perhaps if you trained yourself to associate the smell of coffee and croissants with the smell of Audrey Hepburn...

or the fumes from a scooter

But just the thought of those echoing footsteps down the long hallway does break my heart.

wet sawdust. They put it at the school entrance when I was in elementary school. On rainy or snowy days. When I smell that smell, now rarely used, I immediately go back to those days. The smell of the gasoline mixture, very rare, two-stroke almost don’t exist on the road anymore, how many kilometers I rode my scooter as a teenager. And then with food and drinks. Some that accompanied some hangover and some indigestion still take me back to that moment, causing me discomfort…
