The 14 July celebrations in Carcasonne were magnificent. All round the battlements were illuminated, and the Aude river lit up.Today is " French National Day " celebrated each year on July 14th.
It marks the anniversary of the fall of the Bastille, a medieval fortress and state prison in Paris, during the French Revolution in 1789.
The day is commemorated with various events, including a military parade in Paris and many war planes flying in the sky above the "Champs Elysées"... plus tonight, a gigantic fireworks display installed on the Eiffel towel.
Tonight in the town where I live will be a big fireworks in the sea...like many others towns in France.
