Let's vote!

If I vote on looks alone then this is the order. >

Luxman L590ax ii / L509X
Yamaha AS 3200
Technics SU R1000
McIntosh MA5300 (This one last because combining the old style with new technology looks awkward.)

With the caveat that I still prefer the Technics based on capability, power output and technology.

Honestly, after I saw your current integrated amp (Devialet), I thought it's the best looking one. Anyway, if you still want to buy a new one, I would vote for Luxman L509X.

Yeah, the cusp of the digital paradigm shift :) The old guard's last stand, like this Philips “I wanna play with the big boys” rack from 1983:

reminds me of that song by Pete Seeger Little Boxes: little boxes, little boxes, little boxes all made of ticky tacky...

I believe I have to create a separate thread to do a poll, unless the mods can do something in god mode.

Maybe @BDWoody knows.

If you create a separate thread, I can move this one into that. I don't think I can blink this one into a poll...

Send me a note if you want to do that and we will figure it out.

Get your whored up green turntable out of this integrated amp thread.
Sorry!

On the other hand, it's about as integrated as it gets. All it really needs is an 8-track player.
(and I'll leave it at that)

That's actually Malvina Reynolds' song. ;)

The M6si500 is a very high performance, high powered super integrated amplifier. Twenty-five years ago, the Musical Fidelity A1000 started the complete super integrated amplifier genre. Over the last two and half decades we have continued to refine our original concept.

The M6si500 offers a comfortable 500 watts per channel, incredible load driving ability, outstanding technical performance and solidly engineered build quality. This remarkable integrated amp will drive any loudspeaker virtually perfectly and to its maximum potential.

It has five inputs: 4 x line and 1 x balanced XLR.

Listening to the M6si500 is a sensuous experience. It produces an effortless, silky sound with huge dynamics. The sound stage is broad and deep. Even if you aren’t in the market for an amplifier at this level, you should listen to it to better understand why it is generating such enthusiasm.

M6si500 In Brief
  • 500WPC
  • Fantastic technical performance
  • Amazing load driving ability, will drive any loudspeaker with ease
  • Five inputs - Balanced XLR, CD, Tuner, Aux / HT, Tape
  • Preamp and fixed line outputs
  • Home Theatre bypass
  • Internally it is a separate preamp with two independent monobloc power amps; effectively a separates system in a box
  • Excellent, he-man build quality

The M6si500 offers prodigious power – 500 Watts per channel into 8ohms – but there's so much more to it than muscle.

The M6si500 has a high-quality metal build that gives it both distinctive style and a solid performance platform. The front panel is a bespoke, fine-line extrusion of military-grade aluminium, while the heatsinks are also custom-made for outstanding dissipation plus a fine finish.

We have engineered the M6si500 as a genuine dual-mono design. Each power amp section has its own heat sink and separate transformer, while the preamp has its own power-supply winding.

The five input sockets are connected directly to the main preamp circuit board, instead of using wire connections. This ultra-short signal path ensures ultra-low impedance from the instant sources feed into the M6si500.

Meanwhile, each channel has 12 big bipolar transistors; 200 amps peak-to-peak performance is readily available.

In addition, a precision digital volume control – using laser-trimmed substrate resistors - ensures perfect tracking right down to very low listening levels.

Such attention to detail delivers stellar technical performance. For example, distortion levels are remarkably low – around 0.008% at 1kHz and 0.015% at 20kHz, and only marginally rising to 0.02% at ultra-high frequencies of 30-50kHz. Signal-to-noise ratio is also minimal.

The M6si500 has remarkable linearity and consistency, enabling it to drive any speaker with ample power reserve. It sounds effortless, fluid and dynamic: the way the very best amplifiers should.

i doubt any amp, imho, is as cool as your current dual Devialets.

their form factor alone is of great interest: as they'd say at Devialet -- extra plat.

i was thinking that maybe changing their location on your Ikea shelves might be better, as their current location somehow don't make them "pop" or visually visible, at least as per the photographs. ymmv in real life, of course, as colors, reflections, all are different when viewed in real life.

but for cool factor, i can't see how any of the other amps would even come close.

May I suggest you copy/paste this into the OP? Just so that when people first see the thread and decide they want to vote, they won't have to scroll through through the thread to find the specific post where the amps are pictured..

Just for the record, and de gustibus non est disputandum, of course :) - that Kinki thing is atrociously gaudy.

On topic. Thanks to the OP for postin' the photos all together!
Made voting much easier, as it became immediately obvious, head to head, that the Lux and the Technics are busier looking than they Yamaha (even though I suspect the Lux is a tad better all the way around). The Mac is a grotesquerie of classic Mac style, and the Technics is... OK.
Not to electioneer or anything.

I originally had it in the OP for the poll, but when the threads got merged, it got messed up.

Sorry, I'm not following.

The amps are pictured above in the first post.

My hope is that one of the mods will merge the threads. I sent a PM to @BDWoody.

I guess maybe no point doing anything until whatever is going to be merged has been merged, then. But what I was suggesting was that you copy/paste the pictures into this post.
