FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) has morphed into self-evident truth-isms amongst the elite...
Nothing to do with elites. People are stupid enough on their own.
I am a specialist in my field, you can call me a "coastal elite" as I live in Melbourne and about 7km from a beach.
Doctors didn't have to deal with anti-vaxxers on a daily basis, they were respected and listened to.
Teachers didn't have to listen to parents who wouldn't last 5 minutes in a classroom.
Chefs didn't have to put up with morons who wouldn't know which end of a knife to hold and palates as barren as the Simpson desert.
"My ignorance is as good as your knowledge" is a phrase I,m reminded of everyday while I deal with people who have never stepped in my shoes or cant interpret a single thing in front of them. Jokes on them, I still get paid from their very pocket.
I assure you I never teach my builder, plumber or my electrician on how to do their jobs. I keep my mouth shut and let them get on with theirs as I realise I am not skilled in their trades.
We have the largest known source of information available to mankind today and people still choose to stick their hands in shit instead of looking for the pearls of knowledge and truth. Reality doesn't go away even if you don't believe in it as a lot of Aussie towns are now discovering with the drought and the warnings about climate change and this elite is fighting and participating in protests for them to ensure their survival and to provide alternate arrangements. Their denial however isn't going to suddenly lead to rainfall.
As Carl Sagan said:
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”
Apply the above to PSAudio buyers and you,ll notice even the so-called "Elite" are not above being bamboozled as you would have to be pretty well-off to spend $6k on a DAC.
They chose to believe a charlatan, elites didnt make them choose one considering their is plenty of information of available on DACs and anything else you might want be interested in
I own a couple of well measuring and sounding DACs, both are well under $1000 and I spent a few hours researching before putting my money down.
I read ASR a lot more and have practically left other audio forums because its more in tune with reality than a bamboozle.Does that make me an elite?
QUCIK EDIT: "
What I don’t like is the apparent guise of science to routinely damage hard earned reputations of many excellent companies and their products"
This is the reply of one of the PS forum members who is not pleased with the PSAudio review. No elites necessary as the stupidity speaks for itself or else Amir is also an elite who uses science to bust myths.
