Hi guys,

My old Sony wh-1000xm4 has just died.
R.I.P.

Now the time has come for some new ones.
Price budget: Maximum 450-550 EUR.

I have mad this considering list, random order.
1) B&W PX8
2) Focal Bathys
3) B&O H95

What is most important to me:
- Sound quality
- ANC

Please let me know your thoughts on this topic.
If you have any other headphone I might consider, please let me know :)

Thanks.

@Ole_S. I'm the EQ/PEQ webpage Dood and I'm just wondering if you are using parametric equalization in your audio system for the headphones and maybe some speakers too? I ask because it's going to give you the best possible sound from near every headphone that you can buy. It will enable you to decide to buy something you might not have because you have PEQ to make corrections and stuff. You may have more options with headphones with PEQ.

Hi,

Thank you for replying.
I am considering using USB Audio Player Pro.

If you have any another good suggestions, for the EQ, please let me know :)

Maybe Bose Ultra...

Thank you for this input.
But I do not think that Bose Ultra is in same league as PX8, HD95 and Bathys.

It would be more fair to Bose Ultra, if we compare these to Sony wh-1000xm5, Sennheiser Momentum 4 evt, B&W px7 s2e ect.

Did you like the Sony? If so, why not get again? Looks like they can be had for £200

Wireless OE to me looks like a crap shoot in terms of frequency response. Another pair of Sony XM4 with some EQ applied might be a winner as you have known comfort and fit?

Yes, my wh-1000xm4 was fine.
But I would like an upgrade.

Normally, I am keeping the same headphones 2-4 years.
Therefore, I would like an upgrade.

And yes.
Wireless OE normally needs some EQ.
That is correct.

Maybe I should consider Sony wh-1000xm5.
Fine "allrounder" for every day use.

And make some EQ to the Sony's.

If you dont want/ need ANC maybe look at the Audeze Maxwell.

Please let me know wherefrom you download the EQ settings (Oratory 1990).

Thank you very much.
Please be aware that USB Audio Player Pro does only have 6 bands to adjust.

Which one for me to choose?
All Oratory1990 contains 10 bands.

Here are oratory's measurements and EQ presets:

I had the XM3 and auctioned the XM5 and Bose Ultra as an upgrade. The XM5 outclassed the Bose in all areas.

Given the similarities between the XM3 & XM4, I would definitely give the XM5 an audition.

Very useful.
Thank you.

Tap here for 10 bands:

Unfortunately, Toneboosters EQ uses a non-standard PEQ implementation, so even though you can copy oratory's presets into UAPP, the frequency response will be different.

There is a 10.band option in the preset menu. If you haven't bought the peq upgrade, the inbuilt geq isn't enough.
